    Stream Thursday

I'm going to pick up where I left off yesterday on Thursday. I was originally going to continue tonight, but something came up that I had to address. Namely complications with my post-surgery care. My apologies if you were looking forward to my stream tonight. I'm still streaming "The Last Day of June" tomorrow as planned, as well.

    Hiatus Update

I'm sorry it's been so long since I gave y'all an update on my hiatus. Getting my life back in order hasn't been easy going or quick. As we speak, I'm on break at work. The job I have has me doing 12 hour work shifts constantly, five to six days a week. It's killing my debt fast.

    Quick update

This is going to be real brief. I'm through about half the items (that I had back in January) I wanted to get through before coming back. After what has happened now, though, I'm fairly certain I will be guided away from Fimfiction and through all these trials I face until July.

50 Follower Celebration! · 4:04am Apr 18th, 2017

Since joining this site, I have achieved my first goal of getting 50 followers! Thanks guys!

So, some of you must be interested to see what's in store next. The results of the polls have come in, and according to you, this will be the breakdown in the new stories to come.

Tying in first are Barren and Effigy of a Dragon.

For those of you who need the description again, here you go:

Barren

Tags: Dark

Tampering with the past always creates peculiar changes to the future. in the aftermath of Starlight Glimmer's tampering with their own timeline, Twilight has endured through various futuristic scenarios. By changing one minute detail, the resulting future would change drastically.

Most of the futures had striking vision with the villains Twilight Sparkle and the rest of the Mane Six fought against. There was the world in which King Sombra and his crystal empire rules over half of Equestria; there was a society reduced to tribalism at the hoof of Queen Chrysalis herself. One future, however, remains shrouded in mystery.

With her magical powers exhausted, Twilight Sparkle and Spike have been sent to a future bearing nothing more than the harsh, barren wasteland of Equestria. Until her magical reserves have been replenished, she is unable to return to the past to rejoin her fight against Starlight Glimmer, and she must survive in the most unforgiving of environments. While there, her curiosity of how this future came to be gets the better of her.

Characters: Twilight Sparkle, Spike

Effigy of A Dragon

Tags: Romance, Adventure

Forged from the fiery depths of Mount Alumbus rests an artifact long since forgotten. Said to have been of great import, this idol was once worshipped by the dragons of Equestria. For generations, knowledge of its existence has been passed down from one Dragon Lord to the next. Yet, because of the very sinister nature of its origin, no Dragon Lord has dared seek out its presence to embolden their culture.

Now, at the precipice of a fractured kingdom, Ember must face her worst fears. To save her kind from the threat of extinction by their own claws, she must venture forth to reclaim the long lost effigy. But she cannot do it alone. In order to accomplish this task, she must enlist the aid of unexpected friends. Namely, the Princess of Friendship, whom she sees as not only a friend, but possibly the one chance she has at saving her kind.

With the looming danger of a dragon horde threatening to escalate to all out war over Equestria, Princess Twilight Sparkle struggles to come to a solution to circumvent the pressing conflict. Having taken up the mantle to resolve this situation peacefully, it is up to her to come to peace with a seemingly uncaring foe. The task seems like an impossibly unrealistic feat. That is until the Dragon Lord comes to her with a proposition that could save countless lives.

Characters: Twilight Sparkle, Ember

As the latter story is not going to be a one-shot, I will write Barren first. There are two reasons for this. The first reason is that Barren will be quicker to write to completion. The second is because the cover art for the second one is still under development, but it is making remarkable progress. Thank you to Randome284 for providing the art. Don't feel pressured to rush it, by the way, for I'll be writing at least the Prologue and the first chapter before releasing that story to the public.

Coming in third place is Still Ponnequin

Still Ponnequin

Tags: Random

Bound by the laws of physics, a lonely mannequin ponders his most unusual existential circumstance. Inhibited from all movement, he can only watch as his owner, Rarity, goes through the tasks of her everyday life. Will he ever know what it feels like to walk and talk, or is he destined to remain forever still?

Characters: Rarity, Other

I did make a slight name change to the title, as Ponnequin was a much better fit for the title than Mannequin. This one will be written after Barren and sometime after Effigy of a Dragon has been a number of published chapters. The count is up to my discretion; I'll write it whenever I need a break from the new story.

Now comes an important question I have to ask you. As I do have a limited window of time in my schedule to work with, should I shelve some of my projects until at least the one-shots are completed? I cannot imagine them taking too long to make, but as I already have four? incomplete stories now, this would bring my count of incomplete stories up to seven temporarily.

I was hoping to finish A Series of Chaotic Events before I hit 50 followers, but when I saw my follower count rise from 40 to 48 this past week and weekend, I realized that wasn't going to happen. Oh well, I'll just have to work at my pace, and things will eventually calm down. As I do take my time in writing, my updates may be slow (I see some authors belting out chapters left and right, and in a way I'm kind of envious of this), but I try to make them the best quality I can make them at.

When I have completed the stories from the follower special, and my work load on here has diminished, I shall open up another follower special. We'll just have to see what kind of goal we'll have to set up when the time comes to it. We might shoot for 75, but at this rate, it might be 100. :derpytongue2:

Thank you all again for your support, and I'll continue to strive to achieve excellence. :yay:

Congratulations :yay:

4500387 ye know, I know I just followed you, but you seem like a "Chill" kinda guy

4500411

The nickname I gave myself all those years ago (from my fanfiction.net days) seems like a pretty appropriate name indeed.

Yayz! :yay: Ironically, I'm happier now than when I hit fifty... But you've really earned this, Chill. Have a big congratulations from me. If you keep going at this rate, I bet you'll hit seventy before May.

Time for my long speech...

Chill, you're an amazing guy. You were one of my first friends on FiMFiction, and you're a great one. Since we first met, we've been close friends. Right now, you are my closest friend. You're a great dude who's always around, always bringing a smile to my face. And for that, I thank you. Before I met you, I was an emotional mess. That can happen when someone isolates themselves from the world... :unsuresweetie: Even without knowing it, you always brought a smile to my face, even during my darkest times. Chill, you're a great friend. Thank you for always being there for an adorable author and artist.

I know I'm bad at writing speeches... Don't judge. :rainbowlaugh:

As for stories, I think you should take everything one step at a time. Maybe write Barren first, considering it's a one-shot, and for your special. After that, work on a few of your incomplete stories before starting your other specials, and finishing incomplete stories in between. Maybe work with some other authors or friends on some of your projects, it might speed things up and work well. I'm usually bad at advice, so I probably am now. It's your choice on how to continue your stories, this is just my suggestion.

Congratulations on 50 followers!

4500442

I did not think I had had quite the impact on you that you say I have. I'm pleasantly astonished and thankful for your kind words.

As for the writing thing, that makes sense. It also might make sense to continue writing what I feel like writing with more emphasis on the special stories and the story that I think is closest to completion.

As I haven't felt like writing Order of Harmony in a while, that one will have to be put on hiatus for a bit I think.

The two existing stories I'll focus on in conjunction with the specials, I think, will be series of chaotic events and a diamond for your trouble, as I want to continue with their development.

Congratulations! :rainbowkiss: I wouldn't count on that influx slowing down. You and what you do are things people will be talking favorably about to their friends.

4500890

So what you're saying is it could actually pick up. :trollestia:

I have a feeling that the specials are going to do real well compared to my other works...What I have written down for my dark story so far is very promising. We may wanna switch my recommendation from my creepy pasta to it when it's finished, as creepy as the other one is. The idea I have for Barren is really intriguing this far.

4500652

I did not think I had had quite the impact on you that you say I have.

Even without knowing it, you did. And for that I thank you, Chill.

My self-confidence was never high, but you kept it from dropping lower than it was, possibly even raising it a bit. After our friendship began, I began to actually socialize IRL more. Yep, Randome, self proclaimed isolationist, actually got to talking to a small portion of the world. Hard to believe, right? :rainbowlaugh:

Considering I stopped all socializing with anyone since 5th grade, that's a big step in life. Took me five or six years, but I'm finally making some life progress, if you'd call it that. :derpytongue2:

4501127

I really did that? Awesome! :pinkiehappy:

I'm getting really close to finishing up with the outline for Barren. There were some tweaks I had to make with the plot because my initial thoughts on it were contrived. I'm so glad I thought it through before I started writing the story proper. :rainbowlaugh:

Hmm, writing an outline really helped. I think I will start doing that from now on. Can you believe up until now I haven't been writing an outline or creating a roadmap for me to streamline my narrative? It was actually one of the things I was trying to get into the habit of doing and finding it hard to get into the habit of doing that. :rainbowkiss:

4500922
That is exactly what I am saying. :rainbowkiss:

¿Por qué no los dos? :moustache:

4502861

Tou·ché, mon ami tou·ché.

This will be so great! :rainbowkiss:

4502907
:trollestia: Pan de ajo, bombero de espaguetis.

:pinkiehappy: I'm looking forward to it, but don't rush it for my sake. :ajsleepy:

4502912

I've been far too tired the last few days to really work on it, so I am not rushing it by any means. Although it does look promising. :rainbowkiss:

4502912

By the way I got Garlic bread and spaghetti firefighter out of that translation, Dan. :trollestia:

Actually that's kind of weird because that is an actual dish. :applejackconfused:

4502916
:rainbowwild: That's good! Now we just have to hope that wakeful you agrees!

4502931

ah! It needed capitalization if it is the name of a dish. I didn't mean to be picky about that, but I read it as a firefighter made of spaghetti, rather than it being the name of the dish. :rainbowlaugh: (or does it need capitalization? never mind, I have no idea what I'm talking about :derpytongue2: )

By the way, I broke down and edited that one dark story I made a bit. Only for a bit I jumped on the follower specials.

4502947
No, that was correct. I meant for the firefighters to made of spaghetti.

:pinkiecrazy: Ha ha! Played into my hooves like cards!

4502950

Which is funny considering there is an actual dish named that. Although its Firefighter's Chicken Spaghetti special.

4502970

Thanks, now I'm hungry! :rainbowlaugh:

By the way, sorry that my responses are rushed. I don't have much time right now to give out lengthy ones. :derpytongue2:

You totally put me into a silly mood though. I really needed that today.

4502973
:pinkiecrazy: Mission accomplished.

I could have issued the same statement four hours ago. Sorry. :twilightsheepish:

Excellent! I didn't know something so frivolous to me could help so much. :pinkiegasp: Maybe I should do that more often.

4503145

Yes, mission accomplished.

That's okay, I don't really have time to give you anything but quick responses at the moment.

I stated from the start that I was a silly person by nature. A good laugh puts one in a good mood. :derpytongue2:

4503169
I suppose so. I have a karaoke competition tonight, but I'm not expecting to get very far. I'm assuming the judging is biased like last year, and this time around I won't even be able to see as much of the songs as before. Our song times were cut from a minute down to 30 seconds. Half hoping that they just cut me early in the eliminations so I can leave. :ajbemused: I didn't realize that they were going to totally waste my time this time.

4503240

If it makes you feel any better, we can have fun singing sometime in the near future. Unfortunately I can't control their competition, but I can be a good friend. :pinkiehappy:

4503247
I'd just rather do something productive with my evening. I have studying I could do, and they didn't tell us the time thing until we couldn't back out. :trixieshiftright:

4503360

I understand the feeling. I wouldn't mind listening to you do the full cover of your song on your channel later, though.

I like hearing your voice. Oh man, my fiancé would totally tease me about saying that! He teases me about you a lot now. Earlier when I told him I spoke French to you, he thought mon'ami meant mi amour. Huge difference between 'my friend' and 'my love'. I'm not sure why he's so overt with the teasing; I wonder if it's secretly nerves about the wedding getting to him. :twilightblush:

4503417
Would you be at all vexed if I made my next song "Hurt?" I'm not singing it for the competition, but I've wanted to do it.

Especially with my older recordings, I don't like to hear my voice. Oh wow. :twilightblush: Only Fench phrases I know are from the select songs in French that I learned at some point. Table d'amour is table of love, right? :rainbowlaugh:

Beats me. I haven't met him. :duck:

4503534

Why would I be vexed? I had an understanding that that was the song you wanted to do anyways; I was just doing it because my mother liked the song, and I thought you would too, so it was a double win. I plan on going back to my covers as I get more experience and sing them better, but for now I'm leaving them as is.

I decided against doing chess analysis videos. I was just not into doing them; as soon as I started, all desire to see it to completion just left me. I really like audio readings, however, but I am wondering if I rerecord one part of a reading if it will sound out of place. My suspicions are that it sound slightly off if I am not careful.

I would understand if it was the case, because nerves sure are getting to me a little, but it's to be expected with a wedding.

4503606
Hey, I asked. I didn't know if that would be awkward for you. You know, I've considered redoing a number of my readings, but I don't think I ever will. For one thing, they show me how far I've progressed. For another, I just don't feel it wouldn't help all that much.

It's smart that you're able to read that. :twilightsheepish: Sometimes, I feel that way, ignore it, and later rue having not heeded it.

It can; however, I had the same worry about Painless, both My Final Confession stories, and Reconnection. Honestly, you should only hear it if you have good volume and headphones, and not everbody does. I hear the stuff when I play the wave files on my computer, but YouTube's compression reduces it.

Oh yeah, definitely, but I am sure there's no dissuasion in those nerves. :ajsmug:

4504036

I don't think I could ever be vexed by something you do. You're so sweet, though, thinking about my feelings and making me happy yesterday.

There's really no need to redo your readings, to be honest. Unlike songs, they consume a substantial amount of time. I would know; after only doing one reading of a story around 4k words long, it took me twenty minutes one pass.

It's smart that you're able to read that

What am I able to read?

And that's what I figured. There are some parts I'm going to want to rerecord when I get the time to.

4504255
Consider me reassured, then.

You're faster than I usually am. But yeah, that only corroborates the notion that they take too long to try to remake.

You're able to read your motivation to do things to a reliable degree and ignore sunk costs.

Good luck! One thing nice about getting to record at home is that at least the quality is about uniform across sessions. Having to record in different locations on campus is a pain and also reduces that uniformity.
