Trying new things, polishing old ones

During the time I was working from home (shortly after the start of quarantine), I discovered the sword-and-sorcery genre. After happening upon audio readings of stories by Robert E. Howard on YouTube, I began immersing myself in the adventures of Solomon Kane and Conan of Cimmeria. Having played Dungeons & Dragons in high school (and still keeping up with every edition of the game since),

Why Diamond Tiara does not attend Crystal Prep Academy

(Aside from the fact that CPA was not introduced until the third movie)

    I recently formulated an explanation:

The Filthy Rich of the Equestria Girls universe was once romantically involved with Abacus Cinch. Although their individual ambitions ultimately led them to drift apart, they remain friends.

    Shadow Five Headcanons

Just recording these thoughts before I call it a night... thought I’d share these for kicks and giggles:

    Sunny Flare

    • Physically the second-smallest of the Shadow Five.
    • Principal Cinch’s niece.
    • A bit of a germaphobe.
    • For some reason, I imagine her being of Italian descent (I have her cheer "bravissima!" in one story).

    Back to the Daily Grind

    Hello everyone!

These last couple of weeks have been quite busy, but productive. Last month, after working from home for nearly six months, I went back to work onsite at my day job. It was a bit of an adjustment going back to a commuting schedule, but it does feel good to get out of the house, even just as part of a daily grind (with all precautions taken of course).

Plot bunnies · 9:42pm Mar 31st, 2017

Said bunnies have been elusive of late, which is why I've been busier on the visual side.

Anybody else see those new Equestria Girls videos? I must say, I'm glad to see Sci-Twi return to her weird science roots. Plus, that song is pretty damn catchy.

A few months ago, I discovered the horror movies of Dario Argento - namely, Phenomena (released as Creepers in the U.S.) and Suspiria. These movies caught my attention with their Boarding School of Horrors settings, which fuel my itch to do a horror story set in Crystal Prep Academy. I mean, just imagine walking the halls of Crystal Prep in the middle of the night with THIS song playing (the first two and a half minutes)...

I've also been toying with the concept of the Shadow Five becoming Badass Normals. Perhaps in response to the magic flowing in from Equestria, they decide to intensify their physical training regimen to better prepare them for dodging giant carnivorous plants, dimensional cracks and other invading threats. After all, if Black Widow and Hawkeye can stand alongside Thor and Hulk, our favorite Shadowbolts can do likewise with their Wondercolt counterparts, methinks.

Magic is no substitute for skill and training, after all!

I'm sure I've also got more Chiffon Veil's studio/belly dance tales tucked away somewhere. One thing I always strive to do with these is to explore something new in each story. To all who have enjoyed them - my heartfelt thanks.

More as the Wheel turns.

@mayorlight I'm guessing you're a big fan of the horror film genre, then? Also, about that Avengers-esque Shadowbolts story, I'd read it. If you decide to make it, let me know, would you please?

4489858 Mostly in the suspense/thriller vein. That Shadowbolts concept would probably resemble Watchmen more than Avengers, but it'll definitely show up on my feed if I do end up writing it.
