I just shotgunned this show in one night. · 10:35am Mar 29th, 2017
Junketsu no Maria
It's a 12 episode show from 2015 with some cute grills in it. The plot is kinda wonky, but it's good if you like period pieces set in the 100 Years War between France and England with witches thrown in for shits and giggles. The art style is great and the writing's not too bad. Plus it has some of the most accurate medieval combat I've ever seen animated, so there's that.
Oh, and it has sexy owls. If you're into that sort of thing.
While I'm at it, a couple of other shows you might want to catch, and can now shotgun because they just finished up are Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon and Demi-chan wa Kataritai. You've probably seen a bunch of memes of these two the last couple of months. Both are pretty light-hearted comedy affairs that are low on drama and action, but if you want something you can just sit back and grin at, these are those kinda shows. And they're both full of cute grills.

Fafnir...more like FAP-nir, amirite?
To be fair, basically nothing happens in these shows. Both feature monster girls with issues, but I'm half convinced that Demi-chan is actually a 12 episode PSA about people living with the difficulties of social anxieties where one or more of the characters is supposed to represent a person on the autistic spectrum. It's still a cute as hell show, but that's what it felt like to me.
But what do I know? I'm not an anime critic.
Fafnir is best dragon girl.
The coat in that first picture is so Anime it hurts. it looks awesome, but it's a coat that has sleeves not being used and two holes in front of those that are being used instead. Even if there is a real style of coat like that and/or there is is some functional reason it needs to be like that it is still the very essence of Anime fashion.

Anime fashion, by and large, functions on the 'rule of cool' trope. Looking cool trumps function and practicality every time.
I want to say I've seen something like that, with the holes in the sleeves so you can have them if you need them, but I'm pretty sure I saw it on a runway show. So still not practical in any way.
Other than the witches' outfits in the show, everything else, including every other character's wardrobe is period accurate for France during the 100 Years War, which is pretty dang impressive.
Really? Normally I'd go with something like Berserk for that and this... does not look like Berserk.

Yeah, it's like...super accurate. It's honestly a little jarring when the witches are on screen because they fart literal anime bullshit, but the world around them is fucking spot-on for France at the time.

That sounds either really good or really bad. I'll have to give it a look.
