Patreon Refresh: New Rewards, New Goals · 12:33am Mar 19th, 2017
Howdy!
Today we had a Patron event, and now that they're aware of what's up, we'd like to take a moment to recap a few things.
If you aren't already aware, Crystal and I do indeed have a Patreon! Never fear, however: the existence of it has not and will never mean pay-to-read chapters, Patron-exclusive stories, or other gated content like that. Patreon is a service by which folks can support us if they really want to, not something you must do to get the full universe.
Now, what happened today? We did a refresh of the Patreon rewards and goals. New stuff ahoy!
Reward Tiers
We've consolidated things down to 7 tiers and added some new rewards. The tiers are now $1, $3, $5, $10, $25, $50, and $75. We are humbled by people pledging at the $100 and $300 levels, and while you still can certainly pledge whatever amount you like, we just didn't feel like we were offering enough to make such large contributions worthwhile.
Goals
That's what they're called on Patreon: "goals." Really, these aren't goals in the sense of things we are looking to achieve, but things for Patrons to show our gratitude for achieving major milestones in overall support. This is where we can have a lot of fun, as well, such as offering rewards for the Q&B RPG game hosted on Discord.
Already Achieved: $500! — All Patrons get to name a "friendly character" in the RPG! These are the characters you help out in quests, such as Princess Celestia and Pink Pony. Now your pony can get some smooches in everyone's favorite Laughter quest! Just PM me to get the OC you'd like added to the list.
RPG Rewards — At the $750, $1250, $1750, and $2250 marks, we'll introduce monthly draws for Patrons to get to add new items to the Discord RPG: common, uncommon, rare, and legendary, respectively. The winning Patron will get to name it (obvious restrictions apply—no "Super Epic Lightning Wand" at the common level) and pick its bonuses relative to its rarity.
Onehots Galore — At the $1000, $1500, $2000, and $2500 levels, Patrons will submit prompts using AzuBot's voting system and Crystal or I will write a oneshot based on one of them. If the Patreon hits $1000, drops down to $980, then back up to $1010, only one story will be written. The goal will be "available" again three months after the oneshot is written, assuming the Patreon falls below it and rises back up. Each goal counts as a different oneshot.
Yep, Dirty Fic — First and foremost, we do not expect our Patreon $5000. This is a joke! One that Crystal is serious about, but at the same time not. In the non-zero chance that our Patreon hits a total of $5000, she has now officially documented that, yes, she will write a Mature-rated romance oneshot.
New Rewards
Anonymare's A-Musings! — Once a month, Patrons will get to vote for their favorite Q&B OC using the AzuBot's voting system. Anonymare (who is she? is she even a she? could she be a he??) will write a haiku or limerick about them. Just something silly and fun that Anonymare wanted to offer!
"U+U" Art Draw! — The art drawing that ran every even month (February, April, etc.) has been renamed to "Q&B+U" and a new drawing has been introduced on the odd months (January, March, etc.) for those supporting at the First Sergeant ($25) level and up: "U+U"! The winning Patron can pick up to any two OCs you like (if you don't own them, please get permission first) instead of being restricted to a Q&B OC.
More Proofreading! — Now starting at the Sergeant ($10) level, we're offering 1,000 words proofread a week by us. It can be existing work or new work. Keep in mind this isn't editing services; we'll help with grammar and spelling, but plot is not something we're confident critiquing. The higher reward levels get more words per week.
Complimentary Hardcovers! — During print runs, Patrons at the Master Sergeant ($50) and Lieutenant ($75) levels will get a complimentary hardcover of their choice. This means when we're printing Secrets of a Royal Guard later this year and they missed out on Memoirs of a Royal Guard or Crystal's Wishes, or they really want an extra copy of Secrets, we'll add it to their order! Unfortunately, due to how expensive shipping can be with all of our beloved European readers, this doesn't include shipping.
About That RPG
Crystal's new job doesn't work her to the bone. That means she's excited to code again! Crystal and I are working on new content for the Q&B RPG. We'll keep you posted on the progress.
In Closing...
Whether you're a Patron or not, your support through reading, commenting, and interacting with us is what we cherish the most. At the same time, Patreon allows us to give back in ways that ordinarily we couldn't, such as and most importantly, art. We adore you all and hope to continue to put out the content that you enjoy.
I wonder if I can afford $4000+ for one month...
