Chapter 6 of "The Expansive Romance of Applebloom and Coral Leaf" is now up! · 7:00pm Feb 25th, 2017
Yeah, it kind of broke my 2-week cycle of releasing a new chapter, but given that I've had a few extra thumbs up in the ratings area (and my first thumbs-down since the early days of the story), I decided to put this chapter up, a few days beforehand!
I will admit that when it comes to writing these stories, the word count gets drastically different when bringing the document into Fimfic's toolset.
The iWriter app I use (yes, every single chapter is typed on an iPad), for some reason, gives me a word count that is usually much less than what the Fimfic toolset here tells. For example, iWriter said Chapter 6 had around 8,500 words, and the toolset here, clocked it in about 800+ more. Of well, a minor nitpick, but something that had been on my mind.
Chapter 6 continues some more fun and frivolity between our Ample Applebloom, and Colossal Coral Leaf. Hope you all enjoy it.
P.S. As explained in a few blog posts, I've also opened the blog to questions regarding my writing style, as well as how/why I do what I do, so I welcome any questions that I might be able to answer, and possibly help a few of you out there with your own mental blocks. I will admit I'm not the best author for fimfics, but a year ago, I wouldn't have even considered writing one...and here I am!
Yeah, several others have noted that Fimfic's word counter gives higher counts than Google Docs or MS Word or any other word processor I know of. The cause seems to be that, for the purpose of word counts, Fimfic treats apostrophes like they're spaces—so it incorrectly thinks contractions and possessives are two words. Google Docs counts "they're" as just one word, but it's two on Fimfic.
