*Peeks out from behind a wall* Uh... hi, everyone! It's uh... it's been a while.
So... three months since my last update of pretty much anything, huh?

Screw it all, I've got no excuse. I've barely said a word since the last HA update, and that's really not nice. Not nice at all.
I'm gonna be honest with you guys and lay it flat. You're probably not gonna like me for it, but I really deserve that. I've been a dick.
Chapter 11 has absolutely nothing. Absolutely nothing. I've tried to write it, but nothing I do seems to fit anymore. Everything I've tried to put down for it is just swill that will bore the crap out of you - it's nothing more than a denouement stretched out way too far, and that is also my fault.
I've also tried to read through Hearts Aflutter, to find any ideas I could use, to just get back into the flow of things and still be able to write a story that doesn't contradict itself, and to my shock and horror, I couldn't even force myself to read through the first chapter. It's like going through the Train Wreck Explorers' featured fics, except I couldn't even laugh at how bad it was because it is mine.
All in all, the early chapters SUCK - and that brings me to my next point: I want to re-write Hearts Aflutter again. To you guys who've been following me since the beginning, and indeed all of you, I do so apologise. But to be frank, there's nothing else I can really do. I can't push the story forward without dragging it out needlessly, but to try and end it here will mean that lots of stuff gets left out and you guys will be incredibly dissatisfied with me.
Obviously, re-writing the story is a bit of a dick move itself - it means you guys get no story progression for ages, and probably have to read the whole story again because of changes that I'll have made. But there's no other way to do it - I honestly can't finish the story the way it is now. It's just too unwieldy, and it'd be boring for both you and me - the ending I have planned is probably somewhat perfect, but getting there is proving to be a trek through hell.
So it's really unfortunate and stuff, and I'm really sorry - I really am - but due to stupid amateur mistakes on my part, Hearts Aflutter won't have any new material for... a while.

Oh thank God. For a second there, I thought you were going to cancel it. Turns out you're just keeping it on a hiatus without overtly stating that it's on hiatus. Actually, now that I think about it, you might be right. From what I remember about the tenth chapter, (that is, very little
) most of the introduced conflicts or tensions have either already been resolved or are well on their way to being resolved. Meanwhile, Fluttershy's recovery and rehabilitation have barely even begun. To complete the story now without it being tedious would probably be difficult. Hmm... I suppose you could find some new conflict, but what can you introduce that isn't a total ass pull, hasn't been done to death, and won't slow down the major plot point of Fluttershy's recovery?

Sorry you thought I was cancelling it - I didn't realise it would be taken that way. And yeah, that's exactly it - you hit it right on the nose. I'm not a good enough author to balance out the rest of the story - between the ending coming too soon despite the lack of conflict here, and the not-quite-interesting nature of all that's left to resolve, there really isn't much I can do besides have a second go. I kinda ran it into the ground a little bit

Just do what you need to do to complete your fic. I'd rather start from the beginning anew rather than let the fic just sit there statically But i'll be sad if you remove the part with Rainbow beating the ever living stuffing out of herself, that part really hit me in the feels. Either way, do what you need to do man.

If I ever stop writing (for good at least - extra-long, unintentional hiatuses don't count) you guys will sure as eggs know about it. Still around is like, the exact thing that describes me.
Think of it as like when a friend comes over to your place, and you're all having a great time, and then suddenly they decide to take a nap on your bed for the whole rest of the time they're at your place. This scenario is somewhat similar to how I've been writing lately - Writing is that friend who is really lazy and can't be bothered doing anything, and I need to constantly figure out ways of making him stop going to sleep.

Ah Midnight, you worry to much. sure another rewrite is a little bit lame but hay if you cant continue your story than you go ahead and change it. I mean I havent writen for about a year on a story I have on fanfiction and thats totally my fault. I lost that creative spark. The vary fact that you are trying to at least change it so that you can write is enough, it means that YOU havent lost that spark. just remember you are a great author and keep on keepin on.
