Okay, Seriously...

... What is with all the "Blink" fics popping up all of a sudden? The ones that try to put a grimdark spin on teleportation by claiming the original is vaporized or teleported to an alternate dimension and a copy is put in their place? I've seen at least three in the last two days, and I'm both confused and annoyed because the trope of "Teleportation involves killing the original" is one I am not personally fond of.

It's a topic for stories that comes up here every once in a while. Teleportation is fraught with weird philosophical problems and that's a source of all sorts of interesting story hooks, including this one. I can't say I like the idea of what goes on in Blink, but it is pretty effective as a horror piece.

The sudden influx is because someone read Blink and wanted to expand on it, bringing it back into the limelight; then others went on to expand on that. YMMV, as with all things.
