Fandoms (come by and post, all you new watchers, ja?) · 6:07pm Sep 25th, 2012

SO. Fandoms.

What fandoms outside of of Ponies are you involved with in any way. Do you identify with those communities, or are you a guy/gal on the fringe, not really engaged?

Do you see any parallels with Ponies-- like, is MLP pretty much in line with your animePPGFoster'skawaii lovin' self, or are you a GOW kind of guy and this fandom is kind of an outlier for you? Just curious.

For me, I'm eclectic. Not because I think that's superior, but rather because my tastes are just kind of varied. I like all kinds of dark things (Lovecraft, people. ) but I also enjoy lighter things (every boy in my town in my age group watched PPG when we were little. All of us. All of us secretly watching. I'm not even making a joke right now.) So... for me, ponies isn't *that* out of character for me.

(also-- TwiDash story got to 888 views. Wow. My most viewed story, that one? I'm surprised y'all. Pleasantly. It didn't make it on EQD, but I did feel better about the fact that I got a long email why and while he basically showed me how my statue had soggy clay feet... but he did so in a very polite manner and I was very impressed. If I believed in this story a little more I might work more on it, but the main problem is in the whole letter completely!)

I can't say I'm "involved" with any fandom outside of ponies. I watch a lot of shows that have very large, vocal fandoms—Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones for example—but ponies is the only one where I've gotten "involved" with the fandom.

And add me to the list of secret PPG watchers.

382908 We all did. All of the guys in my age group in our youth group watched it at least once, and about half of us really liked it. We all found that out later. :P In fact, ponies, for me, is not all that different an experience. I felt a little self-concious about watching PPG because people assumed from the name that it was something it really wasnt. That show had some grimdark moments man. It was amazing.

I'll let you guess with this saying. "Wibbly Wobbly, Timey Wimey.":pinkiehappy:

I miss old school Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network :fluttershysad: c'est la vie...

And watching ponies hasn't really bothered me. I honestly don't give a hoot whether a show is "masculine" or "feminine," so long that it's fun to watch :applejackunsure:. I wear my Applejack shirt in public. Hell, I even showed my parents a couple of episodes of the show. My mom thought it was cute and my dad laughed a few times.

382923 I'm going to take my Derpy "Hang in there!" poster down before they come in, if they do. Which they won't because my side of the room is messy. :P

I think a lot of that is just that I'm really secretive. Like, not in a sneaky keeping secrets way. Just... too accustomed to hiding things I like.

382916 Whovians represent! :3

I'd have to say I'm involved with the Resident Evil and Silent Hill fandoms, but ponies are my favorite :pinkiehappy:

383092 I have never played Silent Hill... but reading Silent Ponyville made me want to.

I like the Resident Evil movies! I mean, it's not up to par and they are not the best movies I've ever seen by any stretch, but they are rather enjoyable.

383116 The Silent Ponyville fics are what got me into the Silent Hill series :pinkiegasp:

And the Resident Evil movies are hard for me to watch, but the games are awesome.

383139 Haha, yes, they are... until like you begin to really appreciate bad things.

Suddenly, the heavens open up and spill irony into your lap. And it is awesome. You can like, watch Con Air, and genuinely love it to pieces then. (which I do. :pinkiecrazy:)

Silliness aside, have you played many of the Silent Hill games? I've considered getting one but can't tell which is the best to start with.

383205 I just recently bought the Silent Hill HD Collection for the 360 which has Silent Hill 2 and 3. I Beat 2 and I'm working on number 3 at the moment, but I would recommend that. If you can find a copy of Silent Hill 1 go for it, but I don't know if they make it anymore.

Listen if I can get the motivator fixed on this old Astromech we may get there in time to hand off the screwdriver to the old blue box, that way the good Doctor can defeat the Lord Sauron and, blast our way into Equestria to challenge Pinkie Pie to a duel by Party. And then maybe fight in some giant robots.....and maybe throw in a good pair of goggles here and there for good measure, never know when those steam pipes may go after all. :moustache:

383918 :pinkiecrazy::pinkiegasp::pinkiehappy::pinkiesad2::pinkiesmile: You receive five out of five pinkies for creativity, Vhett.
:D

I detect... 6 fandom thingies? :P
