Okay, what the heck Fimfiction · 9:29pm Jan 17th, 2017
So I use google docs to write my stories (since I can write sometimes while on my phone), mostly because I dont want to clog up my Dad's computer with my own documents.
For most of my fimfiction days, I've used google docs. Ive just imported them as instructed and voila! My chapter appears as it's written in the doc.
Except apparently for this time. The latest chapter of Captured looks nothing like its supposed to, and the chapter I have qued up for Marjoram looks the same (its not published yet sorry).
And Im angry. The spacing is off. There is bold and italics that shouldn't be there, and this hasnt happened to me before.
Until I get my own computer (potentially this week or next), I cannot use another writing software other than google docs and still upload when I can. It would take much longer than it has been, and I find not having to worry about backups and such a help.
Is anyone else having this problem? Is it just me? Should I blame docs or fimfiction?
Im just frustrated right now. Its like fanfiction.net all over again.
You could try copying and pasting I suppose, but then you'd have to redo all the formatting. I don't personally use Gdocs, so I can't tell you which program is causing the problem.
In the last few months, I've been having similar problems with my fics importing from Gdocs. Mostly just with the bold tags. Sometimes it sticks random bold tags at the end of literally every paragraph. Sometimes it swaps the beginning and ending bold tags. Sometimes there are no issues at all! It seems pretty random.
I think importing from Gdocs is still the best option. You just need to preview the chapter before publishing, and manually edit the tags if necessary. Also, if possible, just don't use bold at all in a chapter: I think I've had fewer problems with importing that way.
