Does the new site look hurt anyone else's eyes? (+UPDATE)

Might just be me. I think it was a bit darker before and now I'm kind of squinting at it. I'm sure changing some coding will eventually be for the better but this will take some getting used to.

Sorry for the potential Fluttercord spam

I forgot how good writing feels sometimes. It helps me get out all my frustration every now and then and Fluttercord is super easy for me to write, so apologies because there will be more.

I'm just in a state of super bliss right now. My ships make me so happy.

    My Personal Ratings on Season 6, Just Because ╮ (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) ╭

I don't like being silent for too long, and aside from a Flashlight fic that nobody wants, the only thing I've done/am working on is a potential sequel to "Let's Talk" (though also probably the kind of sequel that no one really wants).

    Ahhhh TUT

I had a Fluttercord dream and it was beautifuuuul. *happy sighs*

In other more general news though, I am working on a few stories, but I'm not sure how interesting they are to you guys, so I'm not gonna say anything about them. :twilightblush:

My Personal Ratings on Season 6, Just Because ╮ (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) ╭ · 11:47am Jan 16th, 2017

I don't like being silent for too long, and aside from a Flashlight fic that nobody wants, the only thing I've done/am working on is a potential sequel to "Let's Talk" (though also probably the kind of sequel that no one really wants).

So, I dunno, I just like to update the blog from time to time, and Season 6 is the most recent stuff (excluding the Legend of Everfree movie, I guess?), so I figured I'd get my own thoughts about it out in the open. I always believe that a creator should have a solid relationship with their fans, and I feel like the best way to do that is to let people know how I feel about things, so here's how I felt about all of Season 6's episodes, just so everyone has some familiarity with me. The episodes themselves aren't in any particular order category-wise; just whichever aired first.

No on Flutter Brutter, eh? Was is because of Zephyr, Fluttershy, or something else?

4385250

Oh, absolutely not because of Fluttershy! I loved Fluttershy in that episode, plus the song!

I think the episode just hit a little TOO close to home for me and Zephyr throwing his father's clouds out was my breaking point for him. I feel like that was going a little too far and it wasn't a nice portrayal of people who fear failure. I should know, that's like... my entire existence...

You liked the finale? I really didn't like it because of Discord. Its not his fault, the writers just screwed up every way possible to me. On the plus side, I will say that its cool to see Fluttercord become canon.

4394794
Really? Because while I like it for other reasons too, one of my main reasons IS because of Discord.

4395219
The problem is that he's got god like powers, so with a snap of his fingers he could have gotten rid of all the changelings. Sure it wouldn't solve the whole problem, but it'd be a good start. Plus considering that Discord without his powers has sorta been done and done better on ST:TNG, that was another problem. Also if Fluttershy was so important to him, why hadn't he noticed her missing? Sure, he might've just gotten back into town, but considering how important she is to him, and the fact that geography isn't important to him, why didn't he stop there first, or did he just not notice that she'd been replaced? Oh, and where'd he get that microphone at the end when he's distracting the changelings? No powers, remember?

Outside of that, the only problem I could see was that when Starlight is planning on getting a team together, Sunburst didn't even earn a mention. I thought he was her friend, so why'd he get the shaft?

4395227
Ahhh, yeah, I definitely see where you'd have issues. I'm not going to try to convince you otherwise, but I'm just going to kind of explain why they don't bother me:

The problem is that he's got god like powers, so with a snap of his fingers he could have gotten rid of all the changelings.

I was confused at what you meant at first, but then I realized that you meant the changelings in Ponyville and such. I always just thought that he didn't care, to be perfectly honest. Discord has a one-track mind and doesn't always like to help, so when he's told that Fluttershy is missing, that's all he cares about. He likely plans on teaching the changelings a lesson later, but his number one priority is Fluttershy.

Also if Fluttershy was so important to him, why hadn't he noticed her missing?

The changelings had only been in Ponyville for 1-2 days. I just imagine Discord doesn't visit Fluttershy THAT often. They only seem to meet up on specific days. I might ship them, but I still just didn't find it that weird because I think that he either has other things to do or purposefully only meets Fluttershy every couple days so to avoid her thinking that he has nothing better to do.

Oh, and where'd he get that microphone at the end when he's distracting the changelings? No powers, remember?

Trixie probably had one in her bag full of knick-knacks. I could see it, since she's a performer and would have a projecting microphone in case of emergency.

Sunburst didn't even earn a mention. I thought he was her friend, so why'd he get the shaft?

While yeah, I would've liked to have seen Sunburst, he would've been pretty much useless in the situation, because his knowledge is strictly in magic. Thorax already knows all about changeling magic, Discord is there for Fluttershy, Starlight is the idea-mare, and Trixie has her sideshow props. Plus, getting Sunburst would've required them to travel to the Crystal Empire, which would require time that they don't have, and asking Discord to do so is also out of the question simply because Discord wouldn't care and say that they have no time.

Actually I'm quite happy to hear a second opinion (or a third or a fourth, etc), you might even convince me.

Fair enough

Fair enough, but I could swear he mentioned having been out of town, so you would think he'd stop by her place first. I suppose he could be waiting so he doesn't seem to be desperate, but with how protective he seems to be of her, it seems off.

That would explain it, but IIRC, the microphone is floating above him, so...

True, but remember Starlight is specifically looking for unicorns to help them, so you'd think he'd be on the short list. Plus I don't really expect them to use him, just mention. Writing him out is easy, you gave one way, but an even easier one would be for Thorax to say that he saw Shining and the guards headed towards Sunburst's place on his way out. Boom, done, Sunburst presumed captured, so he can't help

He asks "Where are Twilight and the girls?" to Starlight and Trixie, so maybe he DID go to Fluttershy's house, but couldn't find her and couldn't sense Twilight's alicorn magic (deciding not to visit Twilight's castle for that reason since Fluttershy wouldn't have reason to go there either if Twilight wasn't there), thus he overheard Starlight and popped in for a visit.

That would explain it, but IIRC, the microphone is floating above him, so...

It wasn't. He held it in his eagle claw the entire time.

They did mention him. Throax says, "Sunburst sent me here to get Princess Twilight's help, but... but it sounds like it's too late for that, too!" By that, Starlight could probably infer that Sunburst felt he wouldn't be useful in this area and it wouldn't be safe to travel to the Crystal Empire at that time, plus Discord wouldn't be willing to go himself because there's no inherit gain from him.

Sounds like I need to re-watch it, I must've missed a lot, which honestly isn't surprising, suffering from bi-polar mania, I typically do a minimum of two things at once.

4395823
Done did so, and with more focus, and realized I was wrong about most things. I still think Discord could have removed or revealed the changelings, that would've have been very disruptive to Chrysalis' plans since it'd be hard to feed off of ponies that hate you. Also the Sunburst thing is still annoying to me, she specifically comments on the need for strong unicorns, IIRC specifically saying something along the lines of 'if only we new some powerful unicorns.' Umm, I think Sunburst would qualify, and it'd be a simple matter to take him out of the equation by having Thorax comment that it was prolly too late for him.

Outside of that, when I really focused, I did realize that most of my issues were mistakes on my part.

4412612
I can see why you'd feel that way about Sunburst. I guess it just doesn't bother me because Discord takes them to the kingdom so fast as Thorax reveals that they have no power here, which shoots down her whole "strong unicorns" thing and makes it pointless to gather Sunburst?

4412640
I think the problem I have with it is that considering her close personal connection to him, I would think she'd think of him even if she decided to dismiss the idea.

4412646
I understand.

Though since you mention, "Powerful Unicorns", Sunburst unfortunately isn't that. He's smart, but doesn't have the magical ability to pull this stuff off. Yes, he'd have knowledge and could technically show Starlight what to do, but he'd be more dead weight than anything, unfortunately.

4412836
Yes and no. Do remember in the The Crystalling that he says he's not a great wizard, and yet his knowledge of spells, a knowledge that might just rival Twilight's is what saves the day. What he lacks in actual power he makes up in knowledge, so its hard not to believe that he'd've been a useful addition to the team.

4412646
Nah, I get that. It didn't bother me personally, but I fully understand.

4412848
I think some of it comes from how they act together... And the fact that Starlight is the best pony (and Luna the best princess and Twilight the best Queen).

Speaking of finales since I've been re-watching the whole show, I kinda wish the fifth season finale had given us a little bit of Twilight and Celestia conflict regarding Starlight, it would've been nice to see Twilight grow up just a little bit, assuming she could bring herself to dig in her hooves and lock horns with Celestia.

4413857
The Season five finale is my personal least favorite of the finales.

4413912

Really? I do have issues with it, but being a Dr Who and time travel story (I highly recommend The Man Who Folded Himself), I can't help but like it. Off the top of my head, Rainbow not reacting negatively when she sees Twilight in the alt future is one major issue, another is that there doesn't seem to be any real connection between the change and the future.

4413917
I have multiple problems with it, but the time travel isn't one of them. I see good ideas here, but I just do not enjoy the story. One thing that the season five finale did that no other did is that it excluded Twilight from the group so she could go save the day on her own.

I mean, Crystal Empire KIND OF did it, but Twilight's friends still at least DID something. Here, they're excluded from the plot entirely and need to be filled in at the end.

I don't even hate on Starlight's backstory like most people do; it's just the fact that Twilight's here saving the day by herself when there was SO much potential for other things.

4413922
True, but I don't think you could do anything like this with the team, so I guess that's why it doesn't bother me. If they'd had the team, they'd've likely been able to take Starlight out after a round or two at most. Then there's the problem of Dash meeting Dash. Plus juggling that many characters would've extended the loops, so they wouldn't've been able to show us so many alternates.

Plus I like seeing Twilight on her own, seeing her realize once again how important her friends are. I only wish they'd shown her growing a bit in the end, they could've done some fun things with her and Celestia sending notes back and forth while she briefed her friends (maybe someone should write that).

4413925
I know it would've been complicated, but the fact that they're trying to do this thing like, "Look how awesome my friends are! We're connected!" when her friends (disregarding the other timelines' versions) literally did NOTHING until the end really gets on my nerves! I know it'd be more painful to write if ALL of them had to be there, but this just isn't how I want a finale.

There's also the fact that I would've really liked seeing Twilight react to another Twilight as the episode's shocking blow. Yeah, she sees these futures as horrible, but without seeing another (presumably more depressed) Twilight, I don't connect her to these futures very easily. She feels... detached. I know she's not supposed to belong, but I don't feel her urgency as easily.

4413929
Haha, sorry. I get heated when I think about it. :twilightblush:
