Well, the new chapter of Friendship Is Absurd is finally up (although this post is late, I meant to put it up the same day but forgot). Even by the usual standards of this story, this was pretty crazy. So much of it taking place during a dream let me go pretty wild, including goofy stuff like Trixie complaining about incorrect formatting. It's not fourth wall breaking if it's in a dream!
A few notes:
-Gilda’s “dream series” are references to Samurai Jack, World Trigger, Naruto, and BoBoBo-Bo Bo-BoBo.
-The “darker and edgier” things mentioned in Lightning Dust’s dream are references to Man of Steel/Batman vs. Superman as well as Batgirl becoming Oracle in the original comics.
-I’ve been toying with whether or not I want to write a full-fledged Friendship Games parody. The Equestria Girls parodies take a pretty long time to write and don’t seem to be as popular as the main story. But I did think of some jokes for it I wanted to use, so I used this as an opportunity to use some of them in case I didn’t write the Friendship Games parody.
-Trixie’s dream was originally earlier in the sequence, but after writing it I knew nothing was going to top it, so I moved it to the end.
-After spending weeks, I just could not come up with a funny ending for this. So I finally just threw up my hands and basically admitted it in the story.
