The ACTUAL truth about depression.

Most of Paul Joseph Watson's videos consist of typical right-wing fear mongering about the Left, but in Wednesday's video I think he went absolutely off the deep end.

Popular culture does NOT "glorify and fetishize" depression, rather depression is something that comes through personal experience, such as the loss of a loved one.

Furthermore, it has NEVER been a form of "virtue signaling to constantly drone on about how depressed you are on social media"; one comment aptly put:

Studies have actually found that excessive use of social media causes people to become depressed due to the fact that what you see on these platforms are exclusively positive presentations of other people's lives, leading people to internalize the idea that their life isn't as good as their peers, as it would seem from these portrayals that people are having a better life than theirs. [ . . . ] You also allude to the idea that depression is simply a mindset, this is quite simply false. Depression is epitomized by a chemical imbalance that can be brought on by environmental factors such as excessive social media use as aforementioned, loneliness and other factors. I know people with depression and they struggle and fight with it everyday, they do not WANT to be depressed, it's not like they are choosing to be depressed in order to seem 'edgy'. Sure, there may be a few people like that, and sure, those people do an injustice to people suffering from real depression. But there is a distinction [between the two].

As for Paul's last question in the description, "how did being weak-minded and emotionally incontinent become a positive personality trait?", as if the video couldn't have been insulting enough.

I'm kind of thrilled at the fact that several of the commentators have condemned the kind of messages that are being sent here; they deserved to be condemned.
