Still going in spite of life

A reader kindly poked me today to inquire how I was doing since I haven't posted anythin on my stories or blog for months now. Real life slammed me pretty hard after my May update and writing has been at the bottom of the list. Just to detail a few of the incidents, I've been cleaning up a flooded basement, taking care of sick kids (three hospital visits; thank god there aren't bills to pay),

    Checking In - May 2018

It’s time for the monthly check-in. This month was far more productive than the last so I’m feeling pretty good. As usual, you can find more after the break.

    Checking In - April 2018

Greetings! I’m a few days late but it’s time for my monthly check in. I had high hopes for March but life with young children has a habit of altering those plans. Heck, I'm even three days late posting this blog! More after the break and the statistics.

    Checking In - March 2018

Hello everyone! February has ended and so it is time for our monthly check-in. It’s been a weird month and not quite as productive as I’d hoped. Fortunately, the reason for that lack of productivity isn’t an issue of inspiration. More after the break.

    Checking In - February 2018

Hello everyone! It’s time for the monthly check-in. The past month has been educational to say the least. As a result, I’m making a few changes to the way I approach these updates and what I’m going to include in them. More after the break.

Seventeen chapters in seventeen weeks is a pretty decent accomplishment for me and I was hoping to keep that up. I suppose this day was bound to happen though. My holiday curse has hit with full force this Christmas and I have barely written anything in the past week. I've been sick in or around Christmas for years now. I get my flu shot and everything but something always takes me down.

This year the curse wasn't content with just me. I got hit with norovirus late afternoon on Christmas Day when my wife and I were hosting dinner for fourteen of our family members. :pinkiesick: Norovirus is absurdly contagious food poisoning so by the time we realized the cause of my illness it was too late. Most of my family is on the mend now but it really took the fun out of the season and it completely trashed my energy. Anyhow, don't expect any updates to my stories until I can get back in the writing groove.

Hope you all had a good Christmas!

Is that the extremely contagious extremely upsetting stomach virus that causes you to pretty much toss your cookies for 48 hours straight? I had one like that once. My special somepony almost took me to the hospital.

4359154 That's the one. It's contagious before you show symptoms which is really bad and it persists in the environment for ages so it can pop up out of nowhere. Mercifully it rarely last longer than 48 hours. Our suspicion is that our 9 month old got infected visiting Santa since she showed symptoms days before the rest of us. At least everyone is recovering now.

It's considered a winter diseased because it spreads through ingestion and of course as a society we have most of our big family meals in the winter. Worst case I've encountered was when the entire volunteer fire department in the city where I work was taken out after their Christmas luncheon.

That virus sucks fortunately I believe you only catch that once in your life unless I'm incorrect?

4359298 - Well that particular strain at least. You won't get re-infected by someone who catches it from you but just like the flu, there is more than one variety of norovirus.

Yeah. Well hopefully you'll be back up to one hundred percent in no time, darling. :raritywink:
