So, what if Twilight Sparkle is a OCD perfectionist not because she doesn't want to disappoint her wise and benevolent mentor Princess Celestia, but instead is a OCD perfectionist because she has grown up seeing how crazy her insane eons-old mentor Princess Celestia is and so Twilight is pretty sure the slightest mistake will send Equestria into disaster because the ruler certainly isn't going to be any help if something goes wrong.
"She might put you in a dungeon, or exile you, or exile you and put you in a dungeon in the place you are exiled!"
"Why would she do that Twilight?"
"Because she's crazy!"
Ahem. Anyway, getting Scrivener has me tinkering with my pony rpg worldbook and thought I'd toss a request out there. Anyone run across cool monsters or dangerous environments/places in any fanfics that would be cool to have in a D&D?
"Okay, Twilight, breathe. I just begged Celestia to let me help save the country from Nightmare Moon's prophecized return, and she just kicked me out of the castle and yelled at me in a very drunken voice that she's ready for it all to end already. Great job, me! But I can make this work. I have to make this work. I guess I'll just have to go to the little podunk town she banished me to, find some loyal and discreet ponies to back me up on what might well be treason, and take a day or two to figure out how to save everything without her ..."
(As for your question, pretty much everything from Daetrin's Apotheosis.)
Yep. Twilight's priorities when learning that Celestia is missing and Nightmare Moon has returned... Not find Celestia, not try to contact the royal palace, it's go alone into a dark forest she knows nothing about to find a ruined castle she read about in what is pretty obviously a foal's storybook.
Hmm... I should read Apotheosis again. I found it decent but not great, but it did have cool stuff and I read it before I was grabbing monster ideas from ponyfic.
