Anyone Else Having This "Problem"... · 7:11am Nov 21st, 2016
Where Fimfiction will automatically double-space your paragraphs? It only happens for me when I've already double-spaced, which causes an additional space. It causes things that should look like this...
For the record, I'm not actually that bad at math. If I would've paid attention from the start of the semester, I'd probably be top of my class. Problem was it's boring as all hell, and not all that useful. I mean, I'm a DJ, when am I ever gonna need to know the square root of a hypotenuse or whatever it is? If I didn’t know Octavia, I'd have dropped out as soon as I could. I would've stopped trying to pass from freshman year on.
But Octavia was smart. She wanted to move forward, balance school and music. She'd pass all her classes easy, and move on to the next grade. I didn't want to get left behind.
“I'm quite thirsty. You wouldn't happen to have anything to drink, would you?” asked Octavia. I pointed down, then opened an invisible refrigerator. Octavia nodded, then stood up and left the room to find a drink.
To end up looking like this...

It's quite annoying, and I'd really like to know why it does this now.
PS Shoutouts to everyone who read Speechless. It made me feel really great, which is something that doesn't happen much in my life anymore. You guys rock.
Thanks for the shout out and yes I have had many issues with the typing program on this site such as when I copy this from my editor's web page into this one. It will mesh everything up into one big pile of words and it winds up looking like a 2 year old wrote the chapter. I also have had the same issue that you are having with the whole double space thing. Yes it is very irritating I don't know how to fix sorry wish I did but I do know what it is like to have your work messed up by bad programming.
Well. Fimfiction implements double-spacing virtually, with an HTML class that adds more top margin (read: blank space). That's what's happening in exhibit A. Exhibit B has manual line breaks (HTML 'br' tags) as well. I can't be sure why without looking at the source code. What did you type to get those examples? Do you have an example of this happening in your actual work? (Yes, I'm going Twilight on this. Let me have my specialty.)
