Discord's power was something that always frustrated Twilight. All that power, with no effort, no cost. So when Discord offers her a chance to learn his secrets, Twilight quickly agrees. Unfortunatly all things come with a price.

So now that the Sombra chapter is out, I can talk a little about where the story is going, and why.

    Fasten your seat belts!

Okay lads and lasses, lets jump right on into the deep end. Within a few hours of this post the next chapter of Growth will be published for your viewing pleasure. Part of me wanted to wait until Halloween, the anniversary of Rot, but I figure you all have waited long enough.

Now, there are a few things that I have been keeping to myself that I'd like to get off my chest...

Tapping away at the next chapter of Growth.

    Here's a taste of what's to come.

“Impressive isn’t it?” He declares with no small measure of pride in his voice. “And yet it still pales in comparison to my original empire.” He adds bitterly. “Something I lost once again, thanks to you and your annoying friends.”

    Where have I been ?

So, no, I'm not dead, or hurt, or crazy... (and that's the problem I guess.)

Ever since my mental collapse a couple years ago, I've had to take a certain medication to keep myself 'sane'. And it does it's job just fine. I'm more carefree, less stressed and worried about things, it does it's job fine.

    BUT...

Rot chapter two is out. · 2:16pm Nov 6th, 2016

So, as I said before, thanks to the tons of people asking for more, I have decided to tell the rest of the story.
Celestia has arrived, and she isn't none to happy. Expect the sparks to fly. :raritywink:

Okay, I need to take a minute here.

This week has been like some fantastic trip through Wonderland for me. I was amazed on the first night, when Rot made the popular list. I took a screenshot, because I was happy that at least some people liked it. Me and Naturalbornderpy will talk back and forth about what it's like to be writers. What we hope for, why we do what we do. I've always told him, and this was long before he became a household name, that I, personally, write for myself. I write stories that I think I would like to read. Now, for the most part, most of these stories go unnoticed, and unviewed. But if even one person liked it, then it makes me happy. Because that means I have given at least one other person out there something they enjoyed. I was okay with obscurity, even while people like NBD and Pusspuss kept topping the charts.
I always thought that if I ever did have a hit, it would be after I had spent years in the trenches, honing my skills, improving myself as a writer, (there is a critic on this site, BleedingRaindrops, who I have the utmost respect for, because although he will rip your story to shreds, he will do so in a way to help you become a better writer), working until I reached the pinnacle of my abilities, and was therefore qualified to write something great.

You guys COMPLETELY blindsided me over Rot.

Not in a million years would I have ever thought that so very many people would like it so much. If anyone were to ask me what the best ponies stories I ever wrote were, I would have said "Discord's Family Reunion", (my first story, still full of spelling errors, but still the best 'story' to me), The Longest Night (to me my best scary story), "Story Time With Zecora, or Discord Gets the Hiccups" (to me my best rhyming story, and I still laugh at a couple of the puns), and "Her Majesty's Assassin" (my little splatterpunk story written while binge watching Hellsing Abridged, very drunk. This story was so poorly received that it was one of the only two stories bad enough for me to pull from the site. I still think it's hilarious. https://sites.google.com/site/quixoticsstudy/home/the-cellar/her-magesty-s-assassin )

So I was just blown away the when I cam home from work, and saw that Rot was not only ON the featured list, but on TOP of it. :pinkiegasp:
I lost my poise. I was txting all my friends, sending them screenshots, and just generally flipping out. And I continued to do that every day when I came home and checked the site... all week. (It's a good thing I have very tolerant friends...lol.)

No matter what happens from this point forward, you all have given me a memory I will always treasure, and never forget. :applecry:

Thank you again, so much!

lol, jk. Thanks for the plug, though I should tell you I'm a dude.

4289748 lol, could have sworn you told me female a while back... my error. Allow me to fix that.
Ah, now I remember. It was a conversation years ago with NBD, he was totally afraid of you, said you were one of the toughest critics on the site, brutally honest, pulled no punches, etc. But I'm pretty sure that he said "she". Now, it's possible I'm mis-remembering, it has been a long time ago, but I do remember mentally regarding you as female shortly afterwords when I asked your honest opinion on 'The Rope or the Box'.
My apologies.

Regardless of gender, I have always respected your opinions, insight, and the way you don't sugar coat my mistakes. That's the kind of feedback that helps make me a better writer. And why I recommend you to anyone that asks me for a second opinion on their work.
Thanks again for all of your help.

Ha! So it was NBD. I suspected, but he isn't as prolific as some of the other authors I follow so it was difficult to confidently say. His confusion probably stems from the fact that my most used OC, and currently my avatar, Rainstream, is female.
