Alright, it's finally done. The first chapter that is. Go read it! Moonbound
It occurs to me that it might outwardly seem like Inception, (Ponyception), but it was not conceived with that in mind. Moreover, the plot and modus operandii are completely different, so I'm not losing any sleep over the similarity.
I wrote a complete alternate version of this first chapter that follows the same storyline but in a different, perhaps somewhat slower developing way. That isn't to say it was bad, just more typical adventure with a slower start. It would have taken place in Ponyville rather than Canterlot. There are some later plot points (which I have not even written yet) that would also be different had I continued on with that version of the story. My Little Dashie.
Massive props to the author of that story, because it completely changed the way I went about writing mine. I changed the plot quite significantly and I realized my attempts at emotion were just too shallow to be interesting to readers. So I rewrote the first chapter in its entirety.
And of course, please give me feedback on the story. It either:
a) strokes my ego
or
b) makes me a better writer
