Reaction to Finale: I'm really, really intrigued by what happened with the Changelings · 2:39am Oct 30th, 2016
I haven't been caught up since September, due to college and different things taking my interest (in case you couldn't tell), but I just wanted to throw in a few thoughts on what happened in the finale. Because I just watched it and I thought it told a very neat, subtle little tale with the Changelings.
When the Changelings willingly gave their love instead of just being parasites, they finally became what they are originally supposed to look like: fairies. In traditional mythology, Changelings look like small fairy creatures. Not only that, but these new ones just look healthier. Before they always looked starved, their shells were black and they resembled vampires. Now they have more healthy coloring, there are no holes in their legs. And the one to bring about this change? Thorax, their new king who was the one changeling noted to be born different, so different that he was the only one to leave the hive and, as a result of Spike's actions (you go little man), discover this solution.
This show is heavily rooted in aspects of "Destiny", aspects it has yet to truly explore, such as the Tree of Harmony. That, on top of Equestria befriending many races (both in main stories and a subplot happening in the background of seemingly every other episode), it makes me wonder if all of this is happening for a reason, like if something big is fated to occur that requires the whole world to unite and defeat it together.
Honestly, that's what I'm thinking this is all going. It would be the ultimate finale of the show, to have the ultimate friendship lesson on a global scale lol. It would be hilarious, totally epic, and wonderfully cheesy all at the same time. I'd love it if this were to really happen, and be pretty cool of the show if it's been playing the long-con this whole time without anyone ever really noticing.
When I saw that episdoe I could not help but remember this
They've had some overarching plots ticking that are starting to slowly come together. It probably won't be brilliant, but seems to me that the pieces are slowly clicking into place.
I also liked that Twilight took the back seat in this season. She had started to become a little *too* perfect; and I think the writers noticed because they gave her a protégé. I don't think we'll see the same motherly demeanor of Celestia, but maybe we can see some tempered wisdom. Hard to say.
Hmm. Interesting. Personally, I want a real adversary. Not just some two-bit, two-parter -villain that might come back for an episode or three, but something that would really rock the foundations of Equestria. Something with real build up. Something that really challenges the characters and established philosophies. Shit, they could even throw in conflicts of ideology. It would be rewarding in earnest.
Hell, it could even be Celestia. That'd be a twist, even if Fanfics have done it to death. But I don't think they're going to take that route.
Then again, if you're going to have delusions, you may as well go for the really satisfying ones.
So what college degree did you go for?
4277773 Interesting to hear your thoughts man.
And, at the moment, I decided to go back to what I originally entered college for and getting my degree in criminology and a minor in either sociology or forensic psychology, haven't decided yet.
Well that made the friendship I'd magic comic completely illogical then.
I still dislike the. Olput scheme and the ending was cringe five minute solution also (that the power of love !!)
I know the shoes about friendship but you are allowed to have villains you know.
