Chapter 8 of Finding a Place is a major milestone for me. It marks the end of my adaptation of the Equestria Girls movie and the beginning of Arc 2 of the story. I can't believe it wound up taking 8 chapters and 38,000 words to get through the first movie. I'm not sure if I should be happy or worried about that outcome! Equestria Girls was an odd storyline to work with because it rigidly forces magic into an otherwise mundane world. I watched it several times while writing this to get a feel for the human characters and to figure out how Silver could be part of events.
I have small bits of contents to play with for inspiration but it's really just the Mane 5 first pony up videos. I'm really having to stretch my creative muscles to put this all together. Arc 2 has a draft outline and the next two chapters are each about half written so far. There's going to be lots more slice of life as Silver and Sunset get to know one another and the Mane 5. More of Silver's past and the normal lives of the human character will be coming.
I discovered the definition of frustration today. A burst of inspiration hit and I came up with the draft for a very awesome moment. Sadly, it is an idea that I won't be able to use for a very long time. Le Sigh. On the bright side, it's written down for later so there's that little benefit.
Overall I’m quite pleased with how the first arc of the story came together and how well it seems to have been received. Thank you all for your comments, support and feedback. It's all very helpful and it's nice to know the story is being read and appreciated. If you have any questions for me about anything, feel free to ask. I'll answer them in a future blog post assuming I'm comfortable providing an answer!
