Still going in spite of life

A reader kindly poked me today to inquire how I was doing since I haven't posted anythin on my stories or blog for months now. Real life slammed me pretty hard after my May update and writing has been at the bottom of the list. Just to detail a few of the incidents, I've been cleaning up a flooded basement, taking care of sick kids (three hospital visits; thank god there aren't bills to pay),

    Checking In - May 2018

It’s time for the monthly check-in. This month was far more productive than the last so I’m feeling pretty good. As usual, you can find more after the break.

    Checking In - April 2018

Greetings! I’m a few days late but it’s time for my monthly check in. I had high hopes for March but life with young children has a habit of altering those plans. Heck, I'm even three days late posting this blog! More after the break and the statistics.

    Checking In - March 2018

Hello everyone! February has ended and so it is time for our monthly check-in. It’s been a weird month and not quite as productive as I’d hoped. Fortunately, the reason for that lack of productivity isn’t an issue of inspiration. More after the break.

    Checking In - February 2018

Hello everyone! It’s time for the monthly check-in. The past month has been educational to say the least. As a result, I’m making a few changes to the way I approach these updates and what I’m going to include in them. More after the break.

So this is me. · 2:27am Oct 4th, 2016

Hi there everyone. I suppose a small introductory blog post might be appropriate now that my first story is coming along nicely. I’ll admit I’m terrible at this whole writing about myself thing so I don't expect to post these too often. You never know though. Still it’s probably a good way for me to keep you posted about things that shouldn’t be in the comments. First of all, please use my user ID as if it was my name. I've been known as Battlecat or BC for so long I read it as if it was my real name at this point.

I’m 35 years old and I blame my 4 year old daughter and my best friend entirely for my presence here. You see, about a year and a half ago, my best friend got my daughter a couple cheap little G3 ponies at a garage sale. She was super happy and it would have ended right then and there if it wasn’t for Netflix. My daughter spotted the MLP listing and wanted to watch “The Pony Show.” Of course I wound up watching it with her because I wanted to make sure it was appropriate (as in, not like the G3 show).

It was appropriate and she loved it. I was both surprised and impressed. I could see why there were so many adult fans of the show. So I wound up watched the whole series with her. Of course one thing lead to another and I stumbled on to Equestria Daily while looking for news about the next season release. One of the featured stories from here on EQ daily brought me to Fimfiction and that was that.

Releasing “Finding a Place” was one of the hardest decisions of my life. I’m glad it has been well received so far and I hope you all continue to enjoy it. Please don't hesitate to ask questions or comment about my work! Feedback will help make my writing better.

Thanks for reading!

Heh, I had a similar happening. My friends introduced the show to me years ago and at the time I was like "why would I like a show meant for little girls" and then I saw. It's appeal was more widespread than just one category of people and I can appreciate a good show to do something like that. :twilightblush:
