This feels like some kind of achievement. · 7:44am Sep 21st, 2016
So, sometimes I'll get like 10 new favorites on an old fic just seemingly out of nowhere, so I'll go poke around Groups and References to see if it got added or mentioned somewhere, just out of curiosity. It happened to Passing The Time today, and it seems the current traffic may have been from a new Celestia group picking it up. But then I noticed there were a handful of views from a Reddit source I hadn't noticed before in the References. I followed the link and found this:
Someone started a Reddit thread trying to find some of my writing through a vague description. I never expected to be the subject of that.
Makes me feel strangely accomplished.
Wow. That's really something. Never thought I'd see the day this would happen. That is some really vague descriptions there.
oh yeah, that happens to me too, sometimes. just suddenly a ton of traffic to one of my fics! always makes me wonder where it comes from.
I think I can explain the sudden influx. I liked and added it to a bookshelf yesterday simply because I discovered it still unliked in my enormous Read It Later list - despite having read it months ago; apparently I'd forgotten to rate and sort it. As I fixed that, I also added it to a pair of groups, and therefore onto feeds; that could explain the uptick in views it acquired.
On the topic of accomplishment, let's not forget that it's also rated at #300 at present; out of some 102k, that means its sitting well within the top 1%. You dun good, as they say.
You got another one because I hadn't seen that story until you made this blog post.
You would not believe how long my read later list is.
