Don't let people stop you from using creativity. Some may be bad, some may be dreadful, but that's the thing with creativity. You create ways to make it even better. That's the creative truth.

A Recent Story I Have In Mind... · 6:26pm Sep 16th, 2016

It doesn't involve MLP, it's an original story, and it kinda involves a slice of my life.

Just hear me out... It involves in disorders...

So, in case you never knew, I have autism. I'm autistic, but about mildly. My dad told me it just focuses on social interaction and stuff like that, so I'm not... you know... that autistic. Still though, it's kind of a buggy thing for me. I'm not saying I hate everything and everybody because of my autism, but I do feel like some people joke around with me because of that. Not necessarily face-to-face, but I think you get what I mean.

Anyways, I thought of a story... One kid, who is just autistic as me, just got out of speech therapy and basically is not gone with special ed. Slowly he climbed up to be 'normal'. Then, he has to move to this new high school, getting a nice, fresh start. From there, he hid his autism, even if it isn't big, and basically tries to make new friends. He does eventually, but he finds out there's a little strangeness added to them. One has schizophrenia, one is depressed and a tad bit suicidal, one has OCD, one has PTSD from child abuse, and finally, another is just like him. Just. Like. Him.

So, they embark on a high school life through Freshman year, and try to make the best of it. They go through with some more friends, yet enemies, as well. Together, despite being not as normal as the school average, they can still make a mark for people. As one.

...

Yeah that ain't much. I might talk and try to add more, but it's a bit of my life. Now no, I don't have friends exactly like this, but I just thought it up. All these disorders and whatnot. And honestly, I don't know if I can manage to write it. Not cause it's a bit sensitive-sounding, but just don't know if I could write well-written characters and plot. I'm just a teen, after all.

But yeah, that's an idea of mine, and has been for a long time. I might add more to it, again, later on. Whatcha think of it so far?

Well, you'd probably have to find people with those disorders so that they can help you out.

Also, schizophrenia is pretty rare in teenagers and way overused. Not so sure it's a good idea to use that one.

4212595 True... To be honest, kinda got that idea off of reading Nico's Sour Sweet stories. :twilightsheepish:

I agree with Sleepy Panda. Meet with people that suffer from these disorders and speak with them about their experiences.

It depends what kind. Most schizophrenia isn't multiple personalities disorder like it's often assumed to be. Some are more common than others.

4212609 There's paranoid schizophrenia and then there's another type. For both, the average age of onset is early 20s.

I have what's known as "multiple personality disorder" (though that's the outdated term), so yes, I'm aware it's different.

4212614 Ah, I see. Misunderstandings about the disorder are very common, as I'm sure you know, and people still know it as 'multiple personalities disorder'.

I'll admit, I don't know as much about dissociative identity disorder as I'd like, but I know more than the average person. Sadly, what the average person knows comes from Hollywood, and Me, Myself, and Irene isn't exactly a scientific study on the subject.

4212635 I know a little bit. I have a mild case of it anyway, so I doubt it's anything like you see in Hollywood. :derpytongue2:

4212641 No body's is like you see in Hollywood :rainbowlaugh: The closest one to the truth was Fight Club and even that was 'Hollywoodized'.

Awesome idea! :pinkiehappy: Maybe you can add elements from Steven Universe.

I have Asperger's. I know what it's like.

I can relate with autism. I have that as well

It would make for a good read if done right.

Also, autism comes in many shapes and sizes, hence why it's a spectrum. Maybe have someone who is more towards the "classic" autism then in the six rather than two people wo are more towards the "asperger's syndrome" side. Could create more oppotunities and work well, as well as show off the different forms of Autism.

My Autism is probably the same as that. Most of my social awkwardness is from slow thinking.

Makes for a good story, yes.

Two words:

Make it.
It may be a sensitive subject, but there are people out there who make those who have any of these a living hell. Asperger's helped me with that. It would be interesting to read.
