The Fault in our Cutie Marks, various thoughts · 7:02pm Sep 10th, 2016

This was an adorable, heart-tugging episode. That's what I have to say. I rather liked this one, and it was rather positive. Filled with delightful continuity, some fun interaction, and super-cute moments. This is what I feel.

—The side lesson seems to be; be open to the possibility that something can be done, but keep trying anyway for what matters. That's relevant.:3 As for the main lesson, it's nice to have a firm reminder that a cutie mark does not define your entire character, it's simply a representation of what you're good at, and your calling in life is based on what makes you feel good about yourself, even if it's not entirely related to your talent. Pretty much the hammer from the right angle we needed after Flutter Brutter. Also, as a person with Asperger's, I can kinda relate to Gabbie being good at many things, but unsure where her purpose lies. I've got a few skills, at least, but I'm unsure what to use them for besides doing things I like. I know one aspect of it, but I'm still searching for the others. Gabbie is precious, anyway.
—Petunia is such a remarkably human name. Her parents adventure-themes cutie marks and their rather unusual concern suggests they've been travelling around the world. I know that petunia is a noun, but it doesn't strike me as a common sort of name. Additionally, there is is no theme to it, as far as I know, which there generally is.
—I like how the episode begins, just right in the middle of a new friend hangout. And Petunia the paleontologist. Yus. Also, the continuity is really delicious.
—So, apparently, the little girls are gaining fame for being awesome therapists. To the point the Gryphon Kingdom knows of them. Time for cosmic powers to protect their privacy even further, or maybe they can break free and actually become celebrities. Still a bit disappointed there is no Diamond Tiara interaction.
—I like the feeling the song gets at one point, as if it's a camp song from a girls' scout group or something. It feels youthful and "follow the leader"-esque, and as such kinda nostalgic. Nice.
—I guess AJ and the girls haven't told the trio about their excursion to the Gryphon Kingdom yet. Odd
—"I've never read anything about any other creature than a pony getting a cutie mark." Ummmmmmmm, Zebra? Guess either it is (usually) impossible, or books be outdated. Or could Zecora's mark be non-magical of nature?
—Apples seem to have really firm values there, what with all the apple-based swearing.

Well, that generally happens, fortunately.:derpytongue2:

Kinda wanted this to be the ending. However I understand why it wasn't.

I'm honestly not sure how tattoos would work with ponies.

Some examples from this week's underscore!
