EqE - How This Restart Will Happen

I'm sorry I've kept you all waiting. It's been a month or two since I've last announced that Equestrian Earth is being completely rewritten, something that I've tried doing for the first five chapters a couple years ago but couldn't complete chapter five. Re-reading it now, it's a complete mess and I'm not very pleased with it, not to mention that allowing so much time to pass has allowed new episodes of the show to come out thus somewhat throwing a wrench into EqE.

I mean not really a wrench, it gives me new ideas of how I want to tackle the story, but well let's just say it could get messy if I continue the story as it is.

Anyway enough of the exposition on the why. Let's talk about what's been done so far. I've been pretty busy over the Summer because college, but now I'm on break and so far I've finished two outlines for the first two chapters and have started on the third one. After the third outline draft is written, preread, and refined, I'll begin writing the first three chapters for real. Fall Quarter is coming up soon, although hopefully I'll be able to squeeze time during each week to write. One of the classes is Writing Fiction II, so maybe I can pick up a habit of writing consistently in the process. Fingers crossed for future me.

Now about how I will do this story restart: after getting in touch with the Mods, I've been informed that I simply can not just unpublish all the current chapter and upload new ones on the current story as it would be perceived as "double-dipping" and unfair, which is something I understand completely. What I can do, however, is publish a new version of Equestrian Earth and title the old one as a Legacy story, which is what I've done. I'm not sure how many of you will be reading this, but I do hope many of you will be happy to accept this method. For those of you who still want to read the original, it'll still be up. And for me, publishing the rewrite with a new story could mean not having to deal with a lot of baggage that is the Legacy edition (aka not having to see old chapters every time I want to update it).

So in short review: I'm not happy with the quality of the current EqE story and new episodes of MLP FiM make it complicated to continue as it is, I've written a few outlines so far and will soon write the chapters, and finally I'll be publishing the new EqE as a new story while titling the old EqE as a Legacy version.

Truly a lot of work is needed to be done. Pray that I don't get taken away by the phantoms of procrastination again.
