Norse mythology in World of Warcraft and also next Setback chapter... · 6:02pm Sep 5th, 2016

So, uhhh, normally when I write I do the script first and then do the details in-between after. This usually goes from about say 800 words in script to like 3000-5000 words in total. My last chapter was 7000 words in total.

The script alone for the coming chapter is currently at 6000 words. With about the same estimate, that would mean the final product would be like say 25,000 words. For one chapter.

That, in addition to being busy as hell in real life, is why I'm not done yet. And the script also isn't done, meaning it's gonna be even bigger. I'm thinking of spreading out the "chapter" across multiple chapters. As much as I'm looking forward to the end of the segment, there is a TON of stuff in it, and I don't want to skimp out on detail just for the sake of making it all one giant behemoth.

So expect something soon-ish, but WoW this chapter's huge.

Also, having played the new World of Warcraft expansion, there is a huge relation to Norse mythology in the form of characters such as "Thorim", "Helya", "Odyn", "Hymdall", etc, etc...Hel, I was even in "Helheim" where Helya didn't want to let me go, and I later fought her on a ship trying to invade her territory. I now own in-game the wolf pet of Thorim, and I have fought Odyn and the others.

So, this is all to say, the fact that I've been referencing Norse mythology on purpose and have a plan to utilize it in Equestria Was Merely a Setback ever since the very start makes me feel gratified.

Take that as you will, but I'm looking forward to incorporating this new information!

And here's a picture of "Helya"

Speaking of the Expansion, I assume you've seen the mage Fire artifact weapon?

Because if not, it would be INCREDIBLY relevant to this story.

It's Felo'melorn.

Kael'thas' weapon.

Got any plans to have him reclaim his weapon from himself? Or will it pass into someone else's hands as he forges a new legend and a weapon to match it?

4194736 It's specifically going to get a mention in the next couple chapters :rainbowlaugh: If I hadn't had to split them we would have heard from it already! What makes it interesting is not only the weapon itself, but the person seeking it...basically Kael's only living relative! Well, unliving by the time of the artifact quest, but we aren't given a time of death so it's fair to assume she didn't die instantly after going to search for it.

Don't worry, I have a level 100 mage named Kael'thas who's searching for the weapon at the moment :raritywink:

4194931 Most excellent, I do approve. :pinkiehappy:

Currently, I use the weapon myself in game on my Draenei mage, but once I got it and learned the blade belonged to Kael, I immediately thought of this story. Fire may be messy and full of splash damage, but damn if it ain't fun when the procs start coming... well, at least to me it is. The weapon at least lends to the idea of the "Fire Queen" I made for this character when I made her, but she's a saucy thing.

And it seems fitting your Kael'Thas would be chasing after it too, but does that mean Trixie may chase down Ebonchill here? She is pretty solidly a frost mage so far, so it would make sense...

I look forward to seeing what becomes of Felo'melorn specifically though, given its immediate relevance.

4195061 The only artifact weapon I really have done much with is Titanstrike on my Hunter Reuenthal (made about a week ago, but leveled to a hundred in like a day thanks to the power of invasions), so I look forward to using Felo'melorn more in the days to come. I still need to get used to the fire mage spec since I focused on arcane in WoD. (Supernova reminded me of Gravity Lapse, so it was fun making macros using Kael's voice)

So it should be obvious yes that the weapon will be of interest to Kael, but as for Trixie...she has other legendary items in mind at the moment, and we'll see where we go from there. :raritywink:

Felo'melorn will take a little bit to become relevant (hell, they have to be able to survive Northrend), but I do very much intend to utilize it when the time comes

So, I'm shamed to admit during my play through the second thing I noticed of Helya is boobs. First was how big she is.

Giggity. :ajsmug:

4196092 I wonder what cup size those would technically count as. I wouldn't ask her though. :rainbowlaugh:
