Anyone by chance know Madoka Magica? Just binge watched it with Drgnwolf. · 4:53am Oct 23rd, 2016

Since people seemed to get my last reference journal, here's another of sorts.

Been a year since I first saw Madoka, and I have to say it's still quite enjoyable. It's inspired me to now do the Gaiden chapter idea I had for We Remember Everything I had back when I first saw Madoka following my completion of WRE, given that there is quite the similarity between how I handled Trixie's character arc in that story and how Sayaka's arc goes in Madoka. I have multiple Gaiden chapters almost completed, but I think this will be the one that gets finished first just because of the spike of inspiration I got from having just seen the show.

Readers of WRE who have seen Madoka will probably be in for quite a treat, but I'm not even sure what number of people that will end up being. I am curious if anyone here is actually familiar with it since I only know of a few people who have a stated interest/knowledge of it.

Would you like to sign a contract?

I'm sure it could be separated into its own story with the fact that this will be an arc's worth of chapters in the Gaiden section, but it is so derivative of WRE that I don't think it should even be viewed by those who haven't read up to that point in WRE. After all, new readers wouldn't get why there's a second Trixie and the first one's gone or anything like that.

In any case I think Trixie would make a good magical girl...since she already is a magician and a girl. :rainbowlaugh:

*le sigh*
I really need to finish WRE... Though at this point i will have to re-read the first 3/5ths of it...

Know the basic premise of Madoka but never actually watched it.

From what I do understand Trixie would fit in fairly well but would probably not fair too well against the monsters they are up against

4267345 Haha, well I wish you luck in tackling it should you indeed come back and read it, since it's at over 500,000 words now. I hope you'll enjoy it though!

4267703 oh great. That will take like 2-3 weeks to finish... Well, if i finished the Chase, im sure when i get to it, i can finish WRE.

4267511 The "monsters" (Witches) of Madoka are more damage sponges than they are premium threats in and of themselves, since while yes they can kill someone in a single hit if they are careless, they really only get the chance to do that because they can last long enough to just kill you off.

Funnily enough, it's kind of the same fighting style that I gave to the first Trixie. :rainbowlaugh:

Of course, if a Magical Girl wishes to use their power to block out the pain not even a Witch can really "hurt" them should they be anything but one-shotted. Not a healthy practice though.

4267717 Glad to hear it! Curious though, have you seen Madoka?

4267726 nope! Never even heard of it.

4267890 It's pretty good overall. Kind of short at 12 episodes, but for a deconstruction of Magical Girl anime (think Sailor Moon) it does its job well. Subverts expectations of how the genre should be and all. As mentioned in the journal, it also utilizes the same type of character arc I used for Trixie in WRE for one of its own characters, though the difference is that familial love is substituted by romantic love and of course I did it over the course of a gigantic story and they did it in a few episodes. Still the same overall arc though, so I enjoyed it for that, being on the viewer end this time around rather than the creator end.
