Alright so official date for being active again

So for the past month I’ve been dealing with really bad depressive episodes (dysthymia) due to being sick for so long. It’s affected everything in my life, and as if that were not enough my cat jumped on my iPad and my screen crack is now bad enough to warrant repair. Which I can’t do till June.

    Alright, doing better.

It’s been an insane few weeks, been recovering well.
Still very weak, but by June or so I should be back to ok levels of health.

I’m still working on stuff on the side for fimfiction.
I’ll publish it in June. Recovery is slow but steady.

At least I don’t look dead now.

    So...sickly new year..and sick leave

Ok so easiest way to explain why I’ve been silent.
Why I didn’t finish my planned works.
    All of that?

Apparently after everything I went through last year, here I am in February in a similar though less immediately perilous situation to the one I was in in 2018 and 2017. Though I got a valentine.
It was from my mom..but hey I’ll take it since I’m kind of depressed over this, naturally.

Silence of the Glen is broken

So I didn’t do anything in October. Now it’s november.
I still intend to update my sci-fi story, and put the next chapter of the hospital horror prologue up over the next week.

My reasons for not finishing anything were important though.

    Best news, health update.

So my blood tests came back.
And my thyroid levels, without supplements, are literally perfect.
So part of the reason I’ve been so sick is because I’ve been taking my usual thyroid supplement, without knowing I didn’t need it anymore, and overdosing thus inducing a hyper thyroid state, making myself very sick on accident.

Yes, one story out, here is what I will write in the future · 4:34am Aug 17th, 2016

I doubt anyone will read this but "A Timber Tale" just got cleared, if you have read some older scifi and fantasy works you'll have a vague idea where it is going.

By vague I mean a general direction, I already know how it ends and where it all began, it's building the middle that's the problem you see?
Honestly that's the biggest issue when I write anything, I know where it's going, where it began, the middle of the story and all of that. It's how everything connects that can take awhile. By that I mean I have more books outlined than I care to admit, relatively few finished (500) and none published. Alright now I kind of have some published but you get my point.

Please critique my work, I am unfortunately far more accustomed to writing in a more traditional manner and using mostly OC's. So my way of portraying the Mane 6 may be off a bit, this is compulsion because I had a very good English teacher in Grade 1 and she was adamant that I not fall into the trap of using characters in the precise way the source portrays them. Always flesh them out, create a new world around them, or build more onto their existing one. Honestly I think the fandom has done a great job doing just that with MP:FIM.

If I make a typo please point it out, the author is begging you here to tell me when I make an offensive act of grammatical heresy. Hmm..No bad Glen you are already working on three no four stories at once, control yourself.
(Note I don't talk about myself in third person it is just for dramatic effect).

I view this site as a way to grow my talents as a writer, hopefully with positive feedback, but before I go crazy and write stories left and right and somehow accidentally cause the poor moderators to do a Rarity level faint from writing submission overload I'm going to set a few ground rules. These are for myself and for people interested in knowing what I am going to focus on for writing styles, genres, and what I avoid.

1. What I will write: Everything but clop, I just can't do that partly because as a future story may point out my orientation is *coughacecoughs* and mostly because I just don't want to. Concerning romance it may be my orientation or something but honestly I find using "magical romance" as an easy way to bond characters to be kind of cheap, without any build up or prior attraction it kind of kills the whole concept of romance itself doesn't it? Also the mystical overnight head over heels thing just reminds me of the 101 spells to entrance your admirers and enslave your enemies concept. It feels so artificial it must be related to something negative, or evil, or cunning, or hormones!
The amount of novels and literary series I have read that are just wonderful but have horrible random romance in them for no reason other than tropes just kills me a little inside. So I try to veer as far away from that as possible.

If I do any romance I'll probably focus on stuff related to being well like me and less than 3% of the world's population who are in the same boat. But yeah long story short I tend to veer away from naughty stuff and romance overall.

Most of what you'll see will be in the form of older dark adventure stories, fantasy, mystery, comedy shorts that are shout outs to troupes I damn near worship. There will be stuff for children, however it will most likely be in the form of poetic verse sort of, think old children's rhymes and that sort of thing. I may do something more whimsical, surrealistic, classic adventuring tale, philosophical, slice of life, honestly I'm winging it here.

2. Concerning horror, dark, gore, thriller, and suspense I will write these but they won't be in the same vein you'd expect. If you have read the introduction to "A Timber Tale" which itself needs editing for more descriptiveness you may have picked up on a quirk I have when writing certain types of stories. My love of describing things, and you'll notice this later hopefully but I like to toss hints and clues in to point in the direction the story is headed. What I consider dark includes things like melancholy which is not sadness but despair that persists despite ones efforts to rid themselves of it. Oh and I have an unusual obsession with knowing all sorts of things, weird things, I'll go on Twilight Sparkle level research splurges kind of deal. Then those things end up in this genre, because it is so fitting really. You do not want to know how many parasites exist in this world, you don't, nope nope nope.

3. I love to do really unusual call out's to series I have watched, expect to have a character who mostly says "Indeed" at some time. Also there will be a Tremors inspired fan fiction series after my current three are done.

4. I am noting a definitive lack of medical thriller, mystery, horror, and suspense fanfiction. Even if you include Equestria's magic as a factor this is still unacceptable! My goal is to remedy this.

5. I am going to start a FIM: Comedy Stars series, more or less inspired by great comics and comedic troupes. Expect references everywhere, and hopefully my first one will be published as this blog is posted. I plan to try for at least one a month if not more.

6. Anything I am interested in will find a way into my stories. This could get very silly. Or truly terrifying. Don't think too much about it.

7. I will be doing Human In Equestria works, however my first one was actually written before Gen 3, Gen 4, Gen 5 possible before Gen 2. In fact to be fair it was written (dreamed and burned into my subconscious) when I was four or five years old. Luckily as a previous blog post pointed out it was based in an Ur type Gen: 0 and interestingly enough FIM makes the perfect world to continue the journey began so long ago.
And thanks to certain rules of the universe, it had to happen, not so great for the ponies and human involved in said civilization though. That story won't be released til it is completely finished.

8. Illustration skills will also be honed on this website, currently I am laying out a picture/graphic for a story I read last night (or this morning, insomnia you know) that inspired me. My goal is to do the cover art for all of my stories on my own, though advice or ideas are welcome.

The obscure, the demure, the unusual, the strange, the innocent, the detested, the maligned, the pained. For all that one can create, from mind to word then page. Whatever comes from these hooves, these hands, these claws, these days. The stories from an authors mind so telling and so true, I would love to share a smidgen of what my mind sees with you.

PS: I am so going medieval on horror!
