Miss Koi Reviews "Stranger Than Fan Fiction" · 9:27pm Jul 30th, 2016

Happy New Pony Episode Saturday everypony! *in a pinkie pie voice* Areyouexcited?! I'veneverbeensoexcited!

It's like FOREVER since we've have anything Pony!:0 No, not really;) Hasn't been that long, lol;)

Anyway, what did Missy think of the opening episode for the second half of season 6? I thought it was great, truly a episode to open the second half of the season and really made me excited for the rest of the episodes to come:D Just to get the score out of the way, I'm giving this episode 8 hearts out of 10:heart:

Now, what made this episode a real treat? Well, for starters, let's talk about our guest star for this episode: Patton Oswalt.

For those who don't recognize him solely by his dashing good looks, you probably know him as the voice of Remy from Disney Pixar's Ratatouille

(Which is definitely by far his best role in a film ever, just sayin folks;))
But I also know him as the nerdy friend from the comedy sitcom The King of Queens

Looking at our new Season 6 character Quibble Pants, I have a feeling that the MLP staff wrote Quibble Pants based on Patton's nerdy self on The King of Queens but with a bit more cynicism to him;)

Quibble Pants was definitely one of the things that made this episode enjoyable, mainly for his comedy. His over critical nature and knowledge of Daring Do complimented as a great fourth wall breaking jokes for the world of Daring Do/Indiana Jones. Probably Quibble Pants' funniest moment was when he was first interacting with Caberllon, on my gosh simply priceless!XD

That and the ending credits scene, oh my gosh my gut!XD

I also liked the friendship he formed with Rainbow:) I like seeing Rainbow with some more guy friends, I don't know why, just do:) But I like how they share in geeky joy over Daring Do and reached a comprise to understand one's differences & opinions in order to still appreciate Daring Do together in their own way. I liked how it was Quibble Pants was the one to give the lesson, and not just Rainbow Dash to deliver the lesson of the day, because Quibble Pants throughout the episode had to learn and come to the conclusion on why Rainbow Dash loves the more unrealistic Daring Do vs the more logical and witty Daring Do. Though, I felt at the end, Rainbow truly didn't learn or understand Quibble's side of the story and that Quibble did all the work to learn the lesson. I felt like Rainbow had to learn the lesson too. But regardless, it was still a great lesson when it comes to being a true fan of a media you enjoy and how to appreciate all perspectives when it comes to something you love <3

I have a feeling people are going to ship Quibble x Rainbow and I can see why, but I ship them solely as friendship Daring Do buds:3 I also have a strange feeling people are going to ship Quibble x Daring Do together, (which I will not ship either) the Season of Shipping continues!:o

The best part about Patton Oswalt guest starring was the fact he did it because he actually watches & enjoys this show with his little daughter, DAWWWW!:3

Question: What's up with both MLP and Steven Universe for not announcing their guest stars in any of their promos? I mean, seriously, they both get great talent (especially Steven Universe) to do voices for them. I would think they would capitalize on that. Just sayin.

I also liked how likable Daring Do was in this episode, especially in comparison to her last episode appearance;) It shows how Daring really took that lesson from the Season 4 episode to heart <3

Overall, I always enjoy Daring Do episodes:) Not only are the MLP staff at their most creative potential, Daring Do episodes allow to explore Rainbow's character in a fun but also relateable manner, and the episodes allows the audience to poke fun at Indiana Jones while also bringing about what's fun about it:) I can't decide between this episode and "Read It and Weep" in terms of what is the best Daring Do episode.

But this episode was surely the perfect episode to have after San Diego Comic Con, along with the rest of the Cons;) And for those who are going to ask, no I have never been to a convention. For those who are wondering if I ever will, well, that's sorta up in the air. Maybe, some day, we'll see;) You never know;) But for now, it's not in my future plans:p

What did you guys think of the episode? Did you get hyped for the rest of the season or not? Have any of you ever been to a convention? (My little pony or other wise) If so, tell me all about it in the comments below:)

This was a great episode and i did enjoy Quibble Pants

OH Missy, GUESS WHO's BACK :)

Funny how the only guest star they ever promoted for MLP was "Weird Al" Yankovic.

I enjoyed this episode and found Quibble Pants real funny. Though it kind of weirded me out how much he looks like a combination of my Highflyer and Screwjob designs. Seriously, not only is his color scheme similar, but he's also got Highflyer's blue eyes, and Screwjob's prominent eyebrows. What are the odds?

Well, I personally wasn't sure what to expect, but I really liked the episode. When I heard about the name a few weeks ago (when they were leaked) I wasn't sure whether or not to hope for references to actual mlp fanfics.... probably best they didn't. Can you imagine the reactions? :twilightoops: It would probably cause the biggest fan disaster since poor Derpy :pinkiesad2:

Haha lol I'm so glad that you liked the episode:rainbowlaugh::twilightsmile: In terms of Quibble Pants design, I can kinda see what you mean but at the same time, I don't really see it. I think the reason why I don't see it is because both Screwy and Highflyer are brown, like Quibble is more orange like Daring Do, therefore, Quibble reminds me more of Daring Do than your OCs. Plus, Quibble's hair is like Daring Do's, not pure black like Screwy and Highflyer. But then again, maybe Quibble dyed his hair for his cosplay;)

4150354 Yeah, I can see the Daring Do resemblance, but I think that was intentional. You're also right about the mane and tail being several colors as opposed to one. I think it's more the eyebrows and blue eyes that make me think of Highflyer and Screwjob. (Though to be fair, I picture their shade of brown being closer to his color than to say Doctor Whooves.) Maybe I just read more into little things like that since they're my OCs.

Side note: I actually had a similar experience when I decided to see if there was any art out there of Skywishes, since it seems that so far she is a "toy-only" character who hasn't actually appeared on the show, and I ended up finding these images of her.

The toy version of her only has two eyelashes the way I draw her, and in that picture with the rest of the ponies, her forelock is all pointing down instead of flipping up at the end, which is just the way I imagined it when I drew her concept art. I swear I didn't plan any of that. (Though to be fair, the toy has light green eyes, and my version of Skywishes has dark green ones.)

Oh my gosh, Skywishes is an accidental "toy placement" character in your trilogy!XD That explains why we got the Tree HAB ;) LOLXD! It would be so funny in future project I have for your trilogy or in the future chapters in your story to have jokes about this;) LolXD! JK you don't have to if you don't want to, it's just a quirky inside joke:derpytongue2: A Derp jok:derpytongue2: Lol!;)

Actually the TreeHAB was meant to be more a nod to The Martian, but Skywishes is indeed a "toy placement" character. (Which makes me wonder whether she could technically count as an OC since she hasn't appeared on the actual show yet. Kind of the opposite of all those characters on the show that don't have toys of them. *Shrugs*)
And regarding whether there will be any jokes about that in the story... well, let's see what happens and what opportunities arise during writing.

Is "The Martian" a tv show or movie or book? I've heard of the tv show "The Martian" with Robin Williams in it:)

I think she's does because she still looks different from the mare in the picture, plus you gave her a personality unlike the picture did.

No worries, you don't have to put those jokes in;) Only do if they're funny to you and if the story allows you to (especially within each chapter and such)

It's a novel by Andy Weir, that was made into a movie that came last year. But I haven't seen the movie, I've only read the book so any references I make to it are book-related. In-story the TreeHAB's name has it's own origin, but out-of-story it's a nod to the "Hab" aka habitat the main character lives in for a good chunk of the book. Kind of like a certain Fluttercord offspring's name. *wiggles eyebrows*

True. *Chuckles* If nothing else, I can use her as my Pony Proxy when the stories are done.
