AUTISTIC WRITER RETURNS TO REVIEW MLP EPISODES AGAIN!
Season 6 Episode 13: Stranger than Fan Fiction
Let's start with this episode.
From the promos i knew one thing. PATTON OSWALT. I love PATTON OSWALT. No matter who he plays, he just makes the episode so awesome. Even if the show is crap, he just makes it so much better. Nom-Nom from We Bare Bears, Remy from Ratatouille, Professor Dementor from Kim Possible, The Koenig brothers from Agents of Shield, The list goes on. He was also the perfect person to play Quibble Pants, but i will talk more in the review.
The episode starts with one of Daring Doo's adventures. The Indian Jones of MLP, Daring Doo sets off to collect another artifact, until it's revealed that Twilight is reading Daring's book to Rainbow Dash who is packing.
Twilight wants to go, but has to sit out due to plot conveniences in Griffonstone. Just do me a favor Twilight and don't take Spike with you. That didn't go so well the last time. Luckily, we will not focus on Twilight, we are here to see Rainbow Dash doing what every Brony does before going to conventions, packing some of their belongings and personal possessions to sign from their favorite star.
Rainbow Dash is excited because Daring Doo herself is going to the convention.
*Looks at everyone* I don't care if i spoiled it for you. Daring Doo is A.K. Yearling.
While at the convention, Rainbow Dash meets Quibble Pants.
Me: "It's PATTON OSWALT!" *Falls down*
Quibble Pants and Rainbow Dash bond over their love of Daring Doo and we get a montage of all the times they spend together.
I swear this feelings like me if i ever decide to attend a My Little Pony convention.
Then after some rest, it seems not everything is great in paradise. Quibble Pants is one of those fans that only acknowledges one aspect of Daring Doo. So....basically like every fan ever.
"FINE" Dash
Fine" Quibble
NO don't fight. Don't you dare ruin my new shipping of you two. GET BACK HERE NOW AND MAKE UP! :( I'm sad.
After that, Rainbow Dash tries to find Daring Doo to prove to Quibble that she knows Daring Doo. However, Daring is more concerned with the key she found in the opening. Caballero is looking for the key. The reason Daring Doo is at the convention is to blend in with the other cosplayers.
Rainbow Dash helps out by scanning out the villain, however she bumps into Cliche number Four Thousand eight hundred and six four, the unwilling rival appears.
Quibble Pants tries to rub in his own ego, but Dash doesn't have time for that.
"Caballero is over there, there and there."
Plot convenience in a Convention Cliche.
Before Quibble can go back inside, he and Rainbow Dash are captured. When the two are unbagged, they are in a jungle. Rainbow Dash knows it's real, but Quibble is convinced it's a plot by Rainbow Dash to convince him the rest of the books are great.
Person: Don't you hate the "People think something is real is a dream" cliche?
Me: Yeah, but Quibble Pants makes that cliche bearable. Now hush *Covers the person's mouth* Let me watch Patton Oswalt....i mean, Quibble Pants work.
So, Quibble tries to leave but the villains recapture him and put Dash and Pants in chains. That probably wouldn't work with me.
Caballero: TIE HIM UP!
Villains try to chain up the AW, and puts the lock on it.
AW: *Turns the chain and lock to stone and morphs it off him*
Caballero: DIABO! *Runs away*
AW: Hehehe, Stupid ponies. Nothing can imprison me. *Suddenly his hooves are trapped in Chinese finger trap* DARN IT!
Ummm, why didn't you put them in locks earlier? Why didn't Rainbow Dash fly out? Ugh, if i keep questioning this episode, i will be here forever.
So, Quibble Pants is able to distract the guards and is able to unlock the lock to their chains. Okay a bit convenient he knew how to unlock it, but okay.
So, Quibble keeps going on about the flaws of the other Daring Doo books and the whole Adventure is not real, much to the annoyance to Rainbow Dash.
Wow, i guess this is how Bronies feel when their fans follow them around.
Dash and Pants approach a bridge that is scarily going to come down. "Okay, can we have a bridge that doesn't break. It seems like Equestria need to invest in better bridge management.
The bridge breaks when Pants steps on it and Dash saves his life.
THE URGE TO SHIP THESE TWO IS STRONG!
However, when they land, Caballero catches up with them and recaptures them once more. He brags about the two of them seem to find the temple.
So, as they journey down the temple, Pants has finally had enough of this adventure and steps on traps and summons a giant creature.
"AH THIS IS REAL!" Quibble Pants
So, Rainbow Dash and Pants are done for until they are saved by DARING DOO!
Me: Boy, i picked a bad time to return to MLP Reviews.
Dash, Daring Doo and Pants go to find the treasure and Quillble Pants is actually resourceful, and even Daring Doo gets annoyed at his antics.
"Is he always like this?"
Me: Hey, it's Everyone's first reaction of working with me.
So, they get out of the temple with Pant's help, The villains are chased by that reptilian monster and Daring Doo gets the treasure she wanted.
Now comes the moral. Here it comes.
"We may not agree on everything, but it doesn't mean we have to argue of what we don't like."
Huh, i actually do like this moral. Yeah, i think this is probably a good moral for MLP.
Conclusion
This episode was pretty enjoyable. The Adventure was really good, The combo Rainbow Pants was actually very good, and Patton Oswalt made this episode the most fun i had in watching the episode.
The cons of this episode is that as much as i loved hearing the cliche from Patton Oswalt, it still felt clanky. Quibble going on and on about the books did have it moments, but it made the episode work. There were too many plot conveniences, but i forgave them.
All and all, not too bad.
