Plans for Joker's Wild · 3:41pm Jul 24th, 2016
So, I am going to be job searching for TESOL in the near future. When I leave the country to teach, it may mean that Joker's Wild might take more time than usual. The plot my editor and I have brewed up for Joker's Wild is so long that as it is the story will effectively be impossible to finish in the normal manner. None-the-less, we are still interested in pursuing this story; however, it may take a shape that Fallout Equestria stories are not as used to. We will finish the ponyville arch the way we have been, but after that we are going to try to do something new. The story will be told with large jumps between critical points in the story. There will be elements to give context to allow you to follow along, but there will also be a lot of free space for imagination and trying to fill in the blanks. We are going to try to write it in a way that we can approach sections of the story in ways that work for us. We can hit important critical points without spending a lot of time on all the little details, but we will do it in a way that we can later write in the spaces in between. It will be different to say the least, but this wouldn't be the first story in the world to do this method. We have a really big story with lots of cool stuff in it, and since we have planned a lot of it out, we can set the milestones ahead of things and still know how they fit together. It will give you things to ponder and speculate about, and I think if people give it a chance it will be an enjoyable ride.
My editor is getting out of some busy times for him, so he seems to have more time right now. Hopefully that means we will be able to get chapter 4 part 1 out. I've learned never to give time frames on this project, because we never end up matching them. Also, I've been reading up on philosophy and learned that a lot of Joker's Wild philosophy is the same stuff some big named philosophers were discussing 400 years ago, although Joker's Wild seems to take an entirely different stance on it. Still, it provides some juicy brain-candy for the story. It is a wacky story, but it is a wacky story that dabbles in great philosophy.
In other news, I've been working on a quirky comedy one-shot and I hope to finish it soonish.
I'm happy. That will give me time to read other stuff.
