You'll find, my friend, that in the gutters of this floating world, much of the trash consists of fallen flowers.

    Haze's Haunted School for Haiku

Long ago in an ancient era, I promised to post my own advice guide on writing haiku, since I'd written a couple for a story. People liked some of them, so maybe I knew a few things that might be helpful. And I really wanted to examine some of the rules of the form, how they're used, how they're broken.

Studio Ghibli, Part 1: How Miyazaki Directs Slapstick

I used to think quality animation entirely boiled down to how detailed and smooth the character drawings were. In other words, time and effort, so it's simply about getting as much funding as possible. I blame the animation elitists for this attitude. If not for them, I might've wanted to become an animator myself. They killed all my interest.

    Can't think of a title.

For years, every time someone says "All Lives Matter" I'm reminded of this quote:

I first heard of this from that weird 90s PC game

Not long ago I discovered that archive.org has free videos of every episode from Connections: An Alternative View of Change.

    fairness

This is a good video (hopefully it works in all browsers, GDC's site is weird) about fairness in games. And by extension, stories.

Preferences are preferences, but some of them are much stronger than that. Things that feel wrong to us. Like we want to say, "that's not how stories should go!"

almost recovered from BronyCon · 11:15am Jul 13th, 2016

drove 900 miles there and 900 miles back. it's almost like a famous pop song, except I don't have a piano-car.

usually I seem to dodge getting the Con Crud, but for the first time ever I caught it. :pinkiesick: sore throat barely an hour after leaving Baltimore. good thing I already planned to re-visit my friend on the way back, it would've been unbearable otherwise. got some medicine and rest before doing the last 600 miles.

I was happy to meet people there! even though I'm really timid and quiet in person, which you'd think would be the stereotype at a convention of thousands of bronies, but instead they all love parties. I like following others but don't want to get in their way or be noticed. Holly tells me I'm "chill" and "calming to be around" but I usually fear that instead means I'm awkward and boring to extraverted types (and even other introverts). I really hope I didn't offend anyone there.

now everyone knows exactly why I write long rambling blog posts. it's the only way I can blither about the things I like, without worrying about interrupting someone else, or someone interrupting me.

G.M. Berrow's panel was fun. as well as the various writing panels.
went to the "Art of the Fan Comic" panel but learned zilch. :facehoof: they weren't sure what to focus on.

Whaaat, you were a lot of fun to hang out with, Haze! Just because you're quiet doesn't mean your company isnt enjoyable. Please don't ever think otherwise. :)

Yeah, panels are generally pretty hit-and-miss.

Was good to meet you! And I'm going to hold you to that commission, even though I still have no idea what I paid you for. :raritywink:

same, it was great to meet you! and thanks for the fascinating reading

for the commission.... wait, you really don't remember? :rainbowlaugh: I'll PM you after this writeoff weekend is over

Well, I know approximately what I paid you for, but as they say, close only counts in hand grenades and horseshoes.

... though I suppose this counts under the latter. :twilightsheepish:
