They're Doing Science · 5:54am Jul 5th, 2016
So, in the previous post, I was asked 'Now, what is the "S" in "S.I.T."?'
(Somewhat spoilery, but really, it's an obvious step...)
SIT is (will be) the Sparkle Institute of Technoturgy, in which fascinating ideas from different places are collided at high energies to see what the decay products will be.
Incidentally, while I have a pretty good idea of the major departments and who'll end up running those, if there's anypony you think really deserves a cameo or even an entire department at the Institute, feel free to leave suggestions in the comments.
Relevant quote, which is sadly unattributed:

Edit: I'm fully expecting Ring Dynamics to
demandget representation, and for Imogen Andracanth to take a bit of a personal stake in the institute. She seems the kind of person who would be all over something like this.4069778
Approximately half a picosecond after she hears that short-range translocation is apparently easy enough that Twilight can use it for pacing, definitely!![:pinkiegasp:](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/pinkiegasp.png)
4071899 A classic demonstration that Eldraic science and Equestrian magic consider very different problems to be easy or hard. We're seeing the ponies casually do things that science would have given up on trying, and I hope we'll get to see the ponies similarly blown away when they see technology blithely accomplishing things their own scholars thought to be impossible or at least migraine-inducing.
Also, "technoturgy"? Let's be thankful the ponies have a really sophisticated language translation mechanism, because that'd be a doozy of a word-construct to properly convey between two cultures with very different understandings of what magic and technology are. Then again, the moment SIT was founded they probably just started inventing their own unique jargon for the stuff they were doing. It's a proud tradition for all new disciplines, after all.![:twilightsheepish:](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/twilightsheepish.png)

Expect the first minor example of that in... chapter after next.
(And my thinking's that that's the kind of word-construct you get when two such cultures bump into each other and have to start cross-breeding vocabularies...)
