Hooooooo boy, so much for weekly blogposts eh? Okay I gotta get this one out of the way, and frankly I've been dreading even posting this without significant content to report, but here goes.
No, WEcon is not dead, I promise! I know it's been 3 months since the last chapter, and I am sincerely, truly sorry about that. I honestly try not to think about how long it's taken me because then the writer's block would get worse. However I am, at last, making progress on what's shaping up to be a longer chapter. My current goal is to have the draft complete by the end of June and editing started, with a four-day-weekend up ahead of me (July 1-4) to focus in on the editing.
As to why this happened, it wasn't really one big thing, I suppose. I was certainly taking on more and more social commitments, and figuring I could balance all of them when my plate was already so full, and whenever I would sit down to write I just couldn't get the words out, so I kinda... stopped trying I suppose. Many of those commitments I just let drop, and even got snippy with people in my FFXIV raid group, people I consider my closest friends (and some of whom I hang out with IRL for board games on weekends). There was a long gap there, at least a month, where I didn't even look at the draft. And then once I did pick things back up again, I struggled to find my momentum. Plus I've got this issue I may have even talked about before on here - I know I've brought it up in comment replies - where once I know I've been failing on a task I try not to think about it, and avoid confronting the problem, feeling guilt over my lack of progress. Hence the no blogpost.
The good news is that, thanks to the advice of a friend, I'm finally on track again. This chapter has been a struggle for a lot of reasons, but I'm looking forward to it.
So this was a long, long ramble that really amounts to three things for y'all:
--1) WEcon still lives I promise!
--2) I tried to spin too many plates and ended up letting most of them crash to the floor. WEcon was one of the things dropped.
--3) I'm back on track now, with a hope of completion sometime around July 4-5.
I thank all of you so much for your patience.
That's what all writers go through it's nothing to worrier about, all you have to do is get back into the right mind set and you'll get on track.
WEcon is one of my top favourites and I'll be happily waiting for as long as it takes. Stuff happens... the spinning too many plates at once problem is familiar to me. Good to hear you're still alive though ;)
All the best!
