Don't worry, this kind of stuff usually happens, I would like to give a few ideas but IDK how good they could be (or if they would be relevant to your story as a whole), but I'm a patient man, I can wait.

Example of Story idea: Side chapters/story where we can see what kind of information the ponies receive (from internal/foreign politics to social aspects) and how they react to this. It would also show what kind of information the Princesses allows to flow and that way you could start to create characters that could become a part of your main story, like what happened to the show's cast of characters and what they do now, but I do recommend you to do this stuff after Season Six is over so you can have a more information to work with.
