A Note About Future Seasons and the Crystal Empire · 12:12am Feb 25th, 2016
Hey everypony,
As this story (The Nineteenth Century) was started in the aftermath of the MLP Season 4, some may have noticed that I have ignored Season 5. This is intentional. As far as I am concerned, Equestria encountered the humans almost immediately after Season 4 ended, and the point of divergence from the show's timeline means that the events of Season 5 both never did and never will happen...at least, in the way we know it...
In addition, I have received questions about the Crystal Empire in the past. I answered them on the story, but I will repeat myself for the sake of clarity here: As I wanted Cadance to be a Princess of Equestria, but at the same time also wanted Twilight to be a Princess, I retconned the show's story. Therefore, the Crystal Empire is still banished, and all but a distant memory in Celestia and Luna's minds. That isn't to say that they will remain that way, though... Laughs evilly...

Well now, that sounds like quite an eventual wild ride.
Although, now I'm curious about some things, since with the nature of the elements of this Equestria-on-Earth, the whole concept of the Crystal Empire is... hmm... well, maybe I should wait and see, then see how the world-building fits in.

In that case, I have this to say:

This is Antonio Leocadio Guzmán, father of Antonio Guzmán Blanco and creator of the Liberal Party in Venezuela. Born in Venezuela, his father was sided with Spain during the independence wars and sent him to Spain while the war was on full throttle.
He came to Venezuela in 1821 and very quickly he tried to rise to power and he used his best weapon: the feather. He was a skillful writer and he would be constantly writing in the newspapers his thoughts in favor of the best to side with (i.e.: if Bolívar was popular, he would talk well about him, if Páez was popular, he would talk well about him. In other words, he was a cowardly bootlicker... until 1840), this meant that while he originally was sided with Bolívar, when Páez started to get Venezuela out of The Great Colombia, A. L. Guzmán sided with him, and in the new government of Páez he was the secretary of interior.
But during the government of Dr. José María Vargas he got out of favor, to the point that when Páez came back in 1839, he (Páez) used him only one more time to get a good promotion and after that Guzmán got dumped (I'm pretty sure Páez thought it would be the end of his political career).
But after getting the proposal of a few persons that were against Páez to join them, Guzmán decided to gather all of them and create the Liberal Party through the revival of his old newspaper El Venezolano where all of his allies would be throwing their opinions against the Government of Páez (but not Páez since at that moment he was too popular, but one year later Guzmán started to aim at him) and the figure of Páez was getting destroyed by the same figure that helped him to get there: Antonio Leocadio Guzmán.
Now what do I want to propose here?, well, that since the earth ponies are going to become the opposition in The Principality of Equestria, I want to throw my candidate of WHO could be the leader of this opposition (and take the lead in the Liberal Party):

Miss Diamond Tiara, not only is an Earth Pony, but also someone who has a political power, always crave for more and must be pretty much angry against the new government (she also has controlled a newspaper and knows how to move the citizens of Equestria), so she can fit that role very well and she can have some allies like Starlight Glimmer, the Flim Flam Bros. Silver Spoon, and any other you think could fit the role.
And who could oppose her in the newspaper war (and probably take the leadership of the Conservative Party)? The CMC of course, the eternal enemies of Tiara.
So, Does anyone else has a candidate or this one sounds good? Of course, It is up to you Mint20, but I just couldn't resist the idea, but I won't mind if you don't take it.

Diamond Tiara as the head of the Liberal party?
Admitedly, I would've been a bit skeptical, but then again there's that certain episode of Season 5... that plus the passing years allowing for a period of maturity... and well, I can now see it doable. On the other hand, I wouldn't agree on the suggestion of allies as I don't think any but Silver Spoon to make sense. Well, okay, I guess that with the huge amount of years an argument could be said for Flim and Flam turning over a new leaf offscreen. Assuming they'd lean Liberal. But Starlight Glimmer? Er...
To be honest, I can't wrap my head around how the heck the Season 5 finale events could be integrated into the setting of this story, considering, you know, Equestria being on Earth and all that and the tons of things that would be and work different. And then without it, where it leaves SG then?
Anyway... CMC as Conservatives? Well, again, if we take that episode of Season 5... if it's integrated to this story's then it is more likely for them to end up supporting DT than oppose her.
But well, overall things would depends on what of Season 5 makes it into this story's background.

To be honest, I'm basing this proposal under the idea that so far, Season 5 hasn't happened yet so CMC and Tiara aren't friends, Starlight Glimmer is still an enemy of the Princess (by this time Socialism was starting to get a voice in Europe) and the Bros because they know that if the princesses aren't in control it would be easier to do whatever they wanted.
Otherwise I would have proposed someone else who is power hungry and would do anything to have the control and that is also very manipulative and very able with words and politics (Chrysalis comes to mind, but I'm pretty sure Mint20 already has something planned for her and so far, I'm trying to focus on Earth ponies, hence DT).

Well, I am going with the idea that anything that could've passed in the show already could've back at the beginning of the 1800's. Considering that, well, in the story so far has already passed 30 years, I would be surprised if it hadn't.

Fair enough, but I will also defend my argument by stating that I've personally seen politics dividing friendships and families, and right now in the Principality of Equestria there is starting to be social unrest.
Also, Those inside the Liberal Party doesn't have to be completely filled with good guys (neither the Liberal party has to be good), after all, Leocadio Guzmán was against Páez and his policies, but Leocadio was a power hungry man capable of backstabbing his closest friends if needed to get to power.
So even if DT is good, it doesn't mean that (i.e.) the Flim Flam bros. are necessarily good.
Another thing to remember is that for now, the Liberal Party would be the opposition, the one party that doesn't have the control (which very well reflects the earth ponies right now), while the reactionaries (which could be controlled by the xenophobe Blueblood for all we know) are the ones in control right now.
Still, this are all propositions, if doesn't have to go that way, and as I said, I'm open to listen to other candidates.

Hmm, other candidates... if we keep it strictly with Earth Ponies... perhaps Mayor Mare? She's already in the political life, sounds like a good next step in her career.

Let's not forget that the Liberal Coalition, at this point in time in the story, is actually mostly business figures that want the government out of the economy, not necessarily racial/tribal egalitarians...
