Miss Koi Reviews "Applejack's Day Off" · 11:50pm May 30th, 2016

The bad news is...Missy is two days late in posting this review

The good news is...Happy Memorial Day!

Although, bad news again: I unfortunately give this six hearts out of 10:( Making it my least favorite episode of the season so far, and will probably be towards the bottom percentile of my ranking for all of the Season 6 episodes:(

My first and main reason for not liking this episode is how Applejack was portrayed in this story. Her portrayal was starting out good, but there were two instances that really ticked me off. The first instance is when Applejack was finally at the spa with Rarity during the middle of the episode. They find out that there's a huge line for the steam room, and Rarity suggest they do other things while the line dies down. But Applejack, acting like grumpy cat, says no.

I think this is too stubborn even by Applejack's standards, and seems childlish. Applejack is a reasonable easy going pony.
Though, I did like it when Applejack did spent time fixing the spa's pipes and the hot water system for the steam room cause that was in character for her and added a bit of required humor to the episode.

The second instance is when Twilight and Spike and Rarity are helping Applejack fix and modify her chores. I really like the moral in this episode. It's unique and a very important one because it's all about allowing a third unbiased perspective to the current daily problems you face sometimes. Especially, a third eye view from your friends. It's understandable that Applejack would get into a certain routine when it comes to animals because animals require a certain routine, yet this routine changes over time because animals grow up and mature over time. You would treat them and act differently around them when they were younger versus when they get older. So, for me, it's understandable that Applejack would get into a certain yet long routine when it came to her pigs and chickens. But then the rest of the chores, those kinds of problems required just common sense and taking a reasonable step back on Applejack's part:/

I also felt that other problem that this episode faced was it's humor. The episode didn't take advantage of the potential humor set up in it's premise. We could have had Applejack either struggling to relax at the spa and worrying about chores OR Applejack constantly fixing and maintaining the pipe system at the spa, WHILE Twilight and Spike struggle to do the chores on the farm. This episode doesn't have to be super funny, but c'mon! A little bit of clever humor based on this kind of opportunity doesn't hurt either!X0

The one part of the episode that I did really enjoy was finding out that Rainbow loves going to the spa now for massages and hoof-cures, and all that girly jazz;) She even wore the robe and matching Tank slippers from "Tanks For the Memories":3

Welllllll....on the plus side:D....the new episode this Saturday is "Flutter Brutter"XD! Which means:3...Fluttershy's brother and her parents! YEEEESSSS!

Synopsis (Cut and Paste from Equestria Daily): When Fluttershy tries to convince her freeloading brother to move out of their parents' house, he moves in with her instead, forcing Fluttershy to stand up to him and help him get over his fear of failure.

I'm pleased too my friendly little princess fish-butt. :trollestia

BRING ON THE FLUTTER-BROTHER~!:pinkiehappy:

I agree, this was kinda a stupid episode on Hasbro's part. It was worse than On your Marks.
Yes, I hated that episode too. Sue me. :rainbowwild:
I can't wait for next week's episode. I REALLY hope discord is in it because then when Fluttershy's brother tries to freeload her, Discord is like NO!
Hm, maybe I should write a fanfic with that scenario!
Oh and Missy, you might want to read my blog post, it will be important.
I got swag! :moustache:
