Chapter 13 almost ready · 4:17am May 15th, 2016
That's right, folks, Chapter 13 of Always Had is finally up to my standards. I'll do a little more editing, but I'll try to publish the next chapter tomorrow morning at the usual time (i.e. about 10 hours from the time I posted this blog).
It's been a really tough chapter. Not a lot happens plot-wise, but I really wanted a chapter building up to the scene in the cave. As a result, I had a lot of chapter fragments which, for three months, I had no idea how to put together, and I really wanted this chapter done before I did too much with future chapters. C'est la vie for a writer like me. Ooh, I like how that last sentence sounded. I'll use that more often.
I won't promise weekly updates for the rest of the fic. It was a nice effort which I almost kept up to for almost three months (though to be fair, half of those chapters were complete before I even published this darn thing in the first place), but with about 50 hours between two part-time jobs each week and regular housekeeping stuff, I'm pretty sure that's too tight a deadline.
Would you believe I more than doubled the word count in the last week? Oddly enough, I think today's episode, "A Hearth's Warming Tail", helped me finish it up, even though the episode has little to do with the fic. On the one hand, I'm glad that nothing I've written so far was proven to be non-canon. On the other hand, it was a great episode and gave us a second canon Hearth's Warming carol ("Hearth's Warming Eve is Here Once Again") which I am going to use in a short fic I'll likely be publishing in December.
