"Always Had" is Officially COMPLETED · 5:09am Jul 5th, 2020
It's been almost two years since the last chapter of Always Had was published. This whole time it's been marked as "Incomplete", but tonight I finally decided to move forward with the next stage of the story in a separate fic and mark this one as "Complete", as Twilight's adventure of being Clover the Clever is ended and her slice of life as Clover has only just begun.
It started as I was attending a panel at WCPC Online hosted by my good friend Vivid Syntax about writing a story with the end in mind. I was reminded of Always Had and how I still have a bunch to write about Twilight's time in the past, and how I haven't done anything with it in a long time. In those two years, we've learned some new lore about Clover the Clever, and I finally found my original outline for what was originally going to be a single story. I then proceeded to reread that outline, and decide to scrap what I hadn't written yet in favor of writing a new outline that I believe will provide a much more engaging story. I also originally had some concerns about how I'd reconcile Star Swirl not knowing who Twilight is in S8 despite definitely knowing her in Always Had in a canon-compliant way according to a self-imposed challenge, but since then I've come up with an idea that hopefully doesn't seem like a copout. I can tell you that it's going to be interesting.
Thank you all for your support and comments on what is currently my longest work on fimfiction. It was a long journey that encompassed several years of episodes, films, and conventions, as well as helped me grow as a writer. As an attendee and staffer of several cons, I've enjoyed plenty of panels, been on some including hosting my own at PVCF 2018 called "Fanfiction vs the Forces of Canon", as well as ran sound for many others. I hope you'll join me for the next stage of Twilight's journey in the early days of Equestria, currently titled "Under Star Swirl" unless I can find a better name for the sequel.
So not dead so a sequal now because it like the two stories and was sad to think the story was dead
I thought the story would end after Twilight make it back to the present. However, I welcome to read more of her adventure in the past.

That was the original plan, separating the two halves into part one and part two, but ultimately I decided the stories were different enough with enough of a time skip between chapters that I could justify creating a new story.
They will be combined once again when I compile all three into a published copy ("Never Had" will be rewritten to more closely resemble the better quality of the other two), which I would like to have ready by the final chapter of "Under Star Swirl" but we'll see.
I’m glad to hear that it will still continue. I was afraid that the story was dead.
