Inscape: Chapter 6 - The Title · 11:56pm Sep 1st, 2012
Every time it seems I've finally finished the hardest part of this story, I find myself with another unexpected storytelling challenge. I've reached the part of chapter 6 that gives the entire story its name --- although there's no actual title drop, since I can't think of a way to use the word "inscape" and have it sound realistic, because Pinkie Pie is explaining the concept, and somehow, I doubt she'd use the same word that Gerard Manley Hopkins coined for it (especially since I've heavily modified and simplified the idea to make it work for the story).
And yes, that does mean that I didn't come up with the word myself, nor is it a portmanteau of "interior landscape" or "inward escape" or anything similar. Wikipedia has a page for the concept, but be forewarned: some of my readers could very well be insightful enough to piece together what's going on from this, so POSSIBLE SPOILER, THOUGH YOU COULD JUST AS EASILY END UP GETTING EVEN MORE CONFUSED.
Why must you tempt me, woman‽
Trying to resist reading ahead has spoiled many a Marble Hornets entry for me, so why must you give me the option here?
Why don't you have Pinkie explain it and then have Twilight (assuming she's available) say something like, “Inscape. That's what you mean. I've read about the concept."
Now I have no idea Who Do Duned it!
Seriously, what did I just read?
