Huzzah!

So After the Nightmare is completed. This is a pretty big deal for me, as it was my first story that I worked on over a long period of time. Into the Black I pretty much wrote on a extended winter holiday, I think the entire thing was done in a 3 week span of time and then I posted the whole story all at once. I first started posting chapters for After the Nightmare when the story was only about 1/2 way written (it ended up going longer than I thought it was going to) so I got to read comments from people while the story was in progress.

Let me extend a big thank you to everyone who posted feedback on the story, they are all very much appreciated. I am very much a novice writer and I'm going to make a ton of mistakes, grammatical, pacing, character development etc. Feel free to point them out, I won't get mad, I promise I also want to extend a huge thank you to Ataru who preread the last few chapters of the story and helped me find and correct a large number of grammatical errors.

Reader Feedback on After the Nightmare's Ending

I have gotten some feedback from a few readers who were surprised by the completion of the story. After spending a bit of time thinking about it, I think some of those comments brought up some good points. To that end I am considering the following actions.

1. A few edits to chapter 22 to flesh it out a bit more.
2. Expanding the epilogue slightly.
3. A bonus chapter after 22 but before the epilogue.

I'm not sure which of these I will end up doing. (it may even be a mix of all 3, or none at all). What I won't be doing is any sort of new adventure for Selene and Luna in Equestria. That, if I ever write about it, will go into a sequel. As of this moment in time I haven't decided if I want to write a sequel for this story or not, if I do, it will be a long way off.

So what now?

Well, I'm going to take a short break from writing. This may be a few days or a few weeks, I really haven't decided yet, it depends on how much of an itch I get on my new few ideas. And when I say short, I really mean short, I'm not stopping anytime soon. I have at least three more stories that I really want to work on.

1. A sequel for Into the Black. I have a fairly good idea of how I want this to progress, but it's going to take a lot of work to get it right.
2. A HiE adventure story. This one, if I can pull it off, is going to be a long one. I have a rough idea of the overall plot, it would likely start out as a slice of life, then move towards action / adventure. Without getting too spoilery, there's going to be a lot of fighting as the story ramps up and introduction of a limited set of human technologies to Equestria. Expect ponification, because I love that in stories
3. A pony changeling on Earth story. So far I've only thought of an initial setting for this and not much else so it's gonna be a long way off.

What I've got to choose between now and the end of my break is if I want to work on 1 or 2 first. I've also got one other big choice to make. Do I to publish my next story as I work no it (as I did with the last half of After the Nightmare) or do I want to work on it, get it into a mostly complete state and then start putting out chapters. No matter what I end up going with, one thing really stands out to me, I'm going to need pre-readers.
