Daring Deux

Roses are red, violets are blue. That was a comma splice, this one is too.

New blog post. New name. Yeah.

So, yeah. New name. It's kinda dumb, but I'm kinda dumb. Just a heads up for anyone paying attention and see a "new face" lurking around.

    Words are hard.

Words are hard. In fact, I'm writing this blog full of words, which are also hard, because they are easier than the words I want to write.

    Remember 'Fighting is Magic'?

I know I sure do. Those who didn't follow its progress very closely might not have realized what happened when it slipped quietly into the night, or maybe you don't even know what I'm talking about.

New blog post. New name. Yeah. · 7:04pm Apr 19th, 2016

So, yeah. New name. It's kinda dumb, but I'm kinda dumb. Just a heads up for anyone paying attention and see a "new face" lurking around.

As for "why," I just haven't gone by "Comrade" anywhere but here, and with a few close friends for a few years at this point. I figured it was time to swap over to the more current name. If you care about the origins of names, I'll share that below. Read it if you want.

I used to go by "Comrade Deux" on the internet back when I was still in high school, which in of itself was because of the AP Government class I was taking at the time, and I majored in French. Horses happened, and I decided at the time that it was a good idea to change that to "Comrade Sparkle". Even without being informed of the horseness of it, it was suitably silly, and even when you factored it in, I was still Comrade. Worked for me at the time. Later on I wanted an alternate name for an alternate account of a video-type game I played. Thinking myself Clever, I decided to take the second, discarded portion of the name and use that "Deux." At this particular point in time, Season 2 was airing and they had just introduced Daring Do, whose jib's cut I admired. "Do" and "Deux" sound almost kind of similar, and quite similar if you are terrible at pronouncing French. So: Daring Deux. Fastforward to a few years back, I joined a competitive TF2 team, and there was already a Comrade in the group, and if I'm allowed to be blunt on my own blag, he was a bit of a shitlord. I decided to just go by "Daring" in that group. A few years later, we get to the present, and I have been actively using "Daring" as my moniker for a while, and it felt strange to come back to this site and see the old name. Feeling kind of angsty and in the middle of an existential crisis of sorts (unrelated to the name thing, actually), I decided to change it over. This blag exists to explain the reasoning, and to help sort out anyone who is reading posts about this "Comrade" individual who is clearly not at all involved.

So, yeah. That's a thing. Beyond that, I have actually decided to take a break from Comp TF2, in the hopes of figuring out some life stuff, and to get back into writing. So, hopefully some progress will be made on that front.

Cheers,

Daring

Nice to see you Daring, and I hope your team is doing well still.

Temporarily disbanded or on hiatus or whatever. Thought I mentioned that. Maybe I didn't. We did land 5th place in silver in season 18. I'm just quite thoroughly burnt out, and would like to do other things. Maybe get back to writing. I'll see about getting the gang back together next season. Cheers!
