Read what I think down below.

I did see the episode yesterday, and I actually liked. I enjoyed watching Twilight being a teacher in the show. I enjoyed the baby. I enjoyed Starlight walking in on Spike multiple times. I enjoyed the popcorn coming out of no where.

Don't get me wrong. It wasn't perfect. The story was a mingle of coincidences and other stuff, but it could have been worse. The only true complaint I have about yesterday is this:

The fans.

Everything the writers did was perfect. They were paid to write the episode, and they did the best that they could. But the fans? They bitched about a lot of little things. The baby, Starlight, and Sunburst. If they complained about Spike, I am with them as that is on his character, not the writers.

Let us start with the baby. Flurry Heart is a cute baby, and that is it. A baby, yet somewhere yesterday someone typed with the utmost enthusiasm that this solidified their hatred for the baby. She nearly destroyed the Crystal Empire because her magic was uncontrollable. See that last word. Uncontrollable. Meaning it cannot be controlled, and while babies are assholes every now and again, that is it. If she came out fully grown and master of her own magic and stole the show? Lazy writing. The way she appeared? Decent writing with room to get better.

Next up is Starlight. One of my best friends hates her, yet I don't (Ironic coming from someone who is an Admin in a group that believes that Starlight shouldn't have been forgiven so easily). I see her not as a Sunset Knock-Off, but as her own character. Sunset was sorry and that was it. Starlight is sorry and snarky. Enough room for them to classify themselves as two different characters. And if you don't like her, that is fine. Just try as best as you can to look past her and see the story for what it is. That is all I ask.

Sunburst. Many reason for people not liking him, and the most common are the hetero-phobia in the fandom, the dislike of almost any new male character, and because people are ass-holes and have to complain. I like him because he reminds of me. When Starlight told him what she had done, he focused on the time travel aspect. That is what I would have done. If one of my friends told me they went to Europe and robbed a bank, I would ask them "You went to Europe and how much did you take?" No joke. He reminds me of myself in that hermit personality.

In the end, you don't have to like this episode, but I do. And I don't care if you are vocal about it. Scream to the heavens about it and I won't stop you. I will let you say what you want about it, even if I don't like how you said it. Disliking it because of poor writing or because you hate how one character was treated, mines is Griffon the Brush Off, but you know it written as best as it could be is fine. Disliking just because you can or because you hate new characters or any reason I have stated above is just pathetic.

Remember these words before you type anything. Everyone has a snapping point, and they will snap eventually. The longer it takes however means the snap will be more violent.

I don't hate the episode, but I believe it was a lot of wasted potential. It's true, the writers do their best, but in this particular case, their best just wasn't enough. A spirited attempt, to be sure, but still fell a bit short.

But that's just me.

3831092 I know, but it wasn't you that prompted this. It was some people on Deviantart.

I get where you say the wasted potential though. Everything could always be better, but when I look at something I see what it has instead of what it could have. I agree with you though.

Over all I thought it was good. And Starlight getting off easy? I'm not so certain, I want to say she's in a form of an ironic punishment. She had to face her past before moving on, being Twilight's student doesn't quite mean she was let off easy in any way. And I do agree she is her own pony not some knock off for Sunset.

As for Sunburst one thing I've heard most people say they didn't like about him was how they shown him getting his cutie mark in magic, but then showing him as he is now not knowing how to use magic properly. I have seen something close to this in the real world which is why I say this with confidence, Sunburst is a Jack Of Trades through and through. Like a Jack Of Trades he's skilled and adapt in all magical studies, this was even shown in the faint back story between him and Starlight.

Sunburst is the stronger of the two when it comes to studying basic to advance magic, as well as theories, relics, enchantments, things like that. But as for actually being able to cast that is where he would be lacking and Starlight is the stronger of the two, had they both gotten their cutie marks at the same time there's no telling what they could have done together.

And you're right Flurry is just a new born so they just need to leave her alone, I mean what kind of new born comes out of the womb knowing how to clean it's own rear, Flurry's inability to control her magic is the same principle. She has time to grow and learn to control herself.

3831954 Yes. All of what you just said is right. I just wish that many other people out there could realize that.

3831960 Well... the reason I could come to those conclusions is because I've spent most of my life working. No joke first job I had was around the age of 10, but what kid doesn't mow lawns, rake leaves, and shovel snow for a few bucks? But I did have an under the table job when I was 13, it became a legal full time job for 7 years once I was 17. So I've seen quite a lot because of it and can read into personalities when I need to or want to, Starlight and Sunburst were the easiest I had seen thus far in the show.
