Concerning the appearance of God... · 6:43pm Mar 26th, 2016

God is spirit (John 4:24), and ultimately, we cannot know what He looks like. The most common misconception regarding the appearance of God is that He looks like an old man wearing a robe. During appearances in Ezekiel and Revelations, Ezekiel and John repeatedly had to use phrases such as "what appeared to be" or, "He looked like," et cetera, simply because no human words could describe Him.

Why doesn't God reveal to us what he looks like? I believe the answer, or part of it, is that we'd fall prey to idolatry, that is, giving thought to the image, not the Creator. Another reason is that, fallen and prone to sin as we are, we are not allowed to view God's appearance, not in full. The pictures we have of Jesus might well not be accurate, and some unfortunately pray to the images we see of Him rather than to the True Lord in heaven.

I just wanted to refute the idea that we pray to some "old man in the sky," which our enemies accuse us of doing, and state the truth that we should not try to pray to and idolize man-perceived images of the LORD, but worship Him in truth and Spirit (John 4:24). Don't worship the creation, but the Creator.

I hope you all have a great day and a wonderful Easter tomorrow, and hopefully enjoy the new episodes that came out today :ajsmug::rainbowdetermined2::pinkiehappy::raritystarry::yay::twilightsmile:

What does God look like?

Agreed. Although I would like to add that the scriptures say that no man can look upon God and live.

This (in my opinion) is the reason why we can't understand his appearance , at the end we lack the right senses and perpective to perceive him..... and the "others".
I'm just a guy that overthink everything :twilightblush:
