Music SIG Likes #12 :: Mark Knopfler · 2:26am Mar 24th, 2016

Some classic blues rock with a dash of country and a hint of Celtic rock mixed in for flavour. Mark's voice is absolutely delicious and the smooth guitar riffs are like sonic velvet. The one or two older chappies and chappettes who may stumble across this post are probably sagely nodding and saying "Finally! SIG has stumbled across some Good Taste!".

I am certainly glad I stumbled across and re-discovered him on Pandora.

This is pretty much the only Mark Knopfler song I know, but it's smooth and dashing.

Privateering (both the song and the album itself) is quite good. Thanks!

Still working my way through Messr. Knopford's catalogue. I shall see what other gems I can find.

Mark Knopfler is great to listen to; I have to agree with your assessment at the beginning of this blog, though I am most certainly not older (you are most likely older than me).

Of course, Dire Straits is another place to go to find Knopfler's work, though the tone is a little different. Still good, though, if you're into that kind of music (70s/80s blues rock).

Indeed.

They certainly have some nice work, but as you mentioned their tone is quite different. I will certainly have to check them out more in depth. Thanks for the suggestion!

Maaayyyybeee....

I am certainly off of the centre of the age bell-curve that sites like EQD post regarding the average ages in the MLP fandom. Which side of the bell-curve though will be a secret...
