You can't get to the light without walking through the dark first. There are twists and turns and sometimes it feels as if the light has disapeared, but it is there. You just have to look.

CHICKENS! (and story updates) · 3:16am Mar 8th, 2016

Hello Fellow Pony Peoples!

I hope y'all had a great weekend and wonderful day. Over the weekend I joined the BYC (BackYardChickens) group on Facebook. I've always loved chickens and want to eventually have them (along with goats, donkeys, horses, rabbits, spynx cats, Dobermans and Whippets). People in the group are continuously posting pictures of their hens, roosters and chicks (and other fowl like guineas, ducks, geese, turkeys) and I'm just about to die from cuteness. Yesterday I went out to eat with the family at my favorite Mexican restaurant and behind the restaurant is a Tractor Supply Co. store who had chicks for sale. It took all I had to not go in there and buy them all. And last week I went to a feed store to buy dog food and they had the cutest little baby bunnies I've ever seen! I almost bought a couple right then and there. But my parents would have killed me. 4 dogs and 2 cats are enough animals for now, especially since we're in the city limits. My perfect life would be to marry a wonderful man, buy a house (and maybe even renovate it!) on tons of acreage, have a kid or two, train dogs, breed Dobermans, rabbits, chickens, the occasional goats and sell eggs. Now that's a wonderful life:heart:

I'm sure a couple of you are wondering about On a Hearth's Warming and what's going on with it. I'm having a bit of trouble with it, as I'm trying to write it a little differently than the previous Life in Ponyville books, plus I'm rewriting a few scenes and everything, adding a bit more detail, as I've noticed with the other books, I'm a little lacking in that department:twilightsheepish: It's a learning process and I'm thankful to have y'all as my "guinea pigs".

Sometimes when writing a story, we authors tend to get a little bored with that one story line and one way we get through rough patches is to work on a completely different story line. Or at least that's what happens with me. During my writing break, I got an idea for another Life in Ponyville story. So I decided to write a little bit. Well, that little bit has turned into a prologue and 1 1/2 chapters:rainbowlaugh:

It follows Red Knight's mother, Fire Agate, as she grows up under the stern hoof of a military father who is adamantly against her joining the royal guard, meets and falls in love with a soldier and eventually becomes sergeant of Celestia's personal guard. It's in the beginning stages right now, but I think it'll come together pretty well. I think it'll be a nice little side project to play with when I have a case of writer's block for OaHW.

Here's some cover art I put together last night. Nothing fancy, but I think it does it's job great.

Yes, you read that right: The Beginnings Series. I'll dive into that little detail in the coming days:twilightsmile:
