MLP News: Season 6 Promo, Start Date, and Premiere Info! · 10:34pm Mar 5th, 2016
Well, it looks like we won't have to wait that much longer for more ponies! Season 6 is just around the corner with it premiering in just three weeks! Not only that, but we also got some info about the 2-Part Premiere: The Crystalling.
Synopsis for Part 1:
The Mane Six attend the Crystalling of Cadence and Shining Armor's new baby at the Crystal Empire; Twilight gets the chance to present Starlight with her first friendship lesson.
Synopsis for Part 2:
The Mane Six scramble to save the Crystal Empire from an eternal winter; Starlight struggles after the failed reunion with her old friend.
There's a lot of interesting bits of news to take away from this. The Crystal Empire freezing over, Flurry Heart playing a major role, and Starlight Glimmer returning and attempting to reconcile with her childhood friend. I'm really looking forward to this! Season 6 is certainly going to start off on an interesting note...
I know I already talked about this subject matter on your home page, but I think it would make for an excellent Casting Gag if the staff got Kirby Morrow to provide the voice of Starlight Glimmer's childhood friend Sunburst due to his past history with her VA Kelly Sheridan in playing love interests. Some examples of couples they've played include Miroku & Sango from InuYasha and Jay & Theresa from Class of the Titans. What do you think?

I think that would be very interesting. I really hope that we get to see Starlight throughout the course of Season 6. Maybe they could even have Sunburst tag along for a few and show a romantic relationship blossom between the two. MLP's hardly touched upon romance aside from the occasional crush, Hearts and Hooves Day, and Shining Armor and Cadance. This would be a good opportunity to show how a romantic relationship can form. And, hey, the fans can rest in peace with such a story not being forced upon one of the Mane 6.

Somehow, I get the feeling Starlight isn't going to become a main character after this season premiere. Why? Well, if Sunburst is a resident of the Crystal Empire instead of merely being a visitor, then I assume Starlight will choose to stay with him there instead of returning to Ponyville with the Mane 6 upon reconciling her friendship with him. In fact, if they end up being the ones to save the Crystal Empire from the snowy disaster, they could be rewarded with special positions in the kingdom by Shining Armor and Cadance.
