Speaking of Portal 2, you do know about that one Rattman Den with the "Mysterious Transmission," right?
That transmission is actually an SSTV signal, which a signal that, when decoded with the right TV or computer, creates images. Think of it as a modern-style 1800's camera. Astronauts on the Apollo missions used SSTV to send pictures of the moon back home to Earth. Neil Armstrong'd historic "one small step" moment was captured with SSTV.
When Portal 2's SSTV image is decoded, this is basically what it looks like:
