Yeah, I hate to sound negative regarding Ask Opalescent Pearl but I swear the more it updates the more it's turning into Ask King Sombra in reverse, instead of going towards the Crystal Empire the protagonist is going in the other direction. I wouldn't even have minded the obvious similarities that "King Sombra was actually possessed by a thing that made him evil," except in case of Ask Opalescent Pearl it feels more like an excuse to justify them to get together. The blog started promisingly enough about a mare who seemed to suffer a serious case of Stockholm syndrome after having been the personal slave of the king, but then just suddenly went "I'm locking up my store and going unannounced (with no supplies in a country that's far up north in a snowy dangerous climate )into the unknown and getting away from it all and just happens to run into the guy who used to be king sombra and we are now totally going to travel together."
There was even no real build up to her leaving the Crystal Empire, she just up and left, locked the store and left.
I follow this blog and I am curious to see where this story is going, but I think this story really suffers from pacing issues and Prince Topaz being possessed seems more like a contrived coincidence to justify Opalescent Pearl falling in love with King Sombra.
Please don't get me wrong, I like the comic fine and I will see where it goes, but it's not on my top favorites.
I will though be completely fair, it hasn't updated as frequently and we are still technically early in the story and personally I don't mind the TopazXPearl ship, plus it was sort of acknowledged that Pearl goofed by leaving unannounced and with no supplies.
I donated my blood last week. I think that was in vein.
