So, what have I been up to?
Work, mostly. My brother got married, and I went to New York (State, not City) to celebrate. Thanksgiving and Christmas came and went. I saw family, and we played some board games.
And, oh yeah. 46000 words.
Actually, if you count the other two stories I've put time into, it's more like 70000.
Am I done with anything?
Nope!
Once upon a time I wrote front to back straight through. Now, for whatever reason, I jump around a lot. Don't know where to take this chapter? Write a different one for a while. Stuck on what to write next? Read back through and see if I can fill some gaps.
The result is a story that is currently patchy. It's missing large chunks, doesn't flow, and is missing some major themes. Honestly, I find this a bit frustrating, but work continues. The other unfortunate result is that I have nothing to post.
You know, I used to get annoyed by writers that wrote and posted a chapter at a time. I stopped reading several promising stories because they seemed to meander, and not have any clear story arc or goals.
Now I envy them.
Write a chapter and post it? Luxury! Not having to revise the first chapter twenty times because you need to set up something you decided to add later? Opulence! Annoying? Now I wish I had the guts to do likewise.
To make matters worse, things have been stressful here, and life has been eating into my writing time, and making the time I have mostly unproductive.
If I feel ambitious, I might post a chapter of a different story I've been working on a bit. I'll reread it and see how I feel.
Anyway, back to work!
