Without missing a beat, Matt sprang into action. Quickly getting his shoes on, he was soon out of his bedroom and heading for the door. Pausing for a moment, he stopped by the doorway into the kitchen and poked his head inside. Inside was his mom, cooking up something, her back to him as she worked over the stove.

“Hey Ma, Jamie asked me to go with him to do some stuff because he needs some help with… stuff,” he quickly blurted out, “I dont know when I'll be back.”

“Alright,” she replied, not even looking back to face him, “but if you come back home as… whatever he's turned you into before. You better not drool on the carpet again.”

“That was only once!”
